The fun is driving around on the rubber bump stops with the hydrolastic system empty.
The PO of my MKII drained the system and I drove the car 50+K miles before I knew enough about it to pump it up.
Nothing was damaged by driving that way, it just rode hard and cornered better.
The tires never rubbed the fenders (wings).
You can set the height anywhere you like it, knowing anywhere other than stock will put the suspension closer to the bump stops.
If you pump it higher than stock, the front goes higher than the rear.
Going very high and the axels will rub on the front subframe.
It looks strange too.

I use the four finger rule in the front and the rear "is where it is"....your four fingers (pointer to pinkie) in a verticle position should just slide between the top of the tire and bottom of the fender....I bet this measurement is damn close to 13 1/2 for the fronts....try is for Sh*tz and grins.....

I always think mine looks high too, especially beside a cone car, but I've confirmed by measuring that it is the correct height

I wondered why too. A better discription is that the bar leveled the back which brought one side down a little. It still sits a little high in the rear.

How does a sway bar bring the rear down? Is it too heavy? A sway bar shouldn't be loading or unloading the suspension except in roll.

Cup Cake is correct, pump it to where it measures right. Mine sits a little higher in the back as compaired to the front and rides and handles fine. My recently installed rear sway bar brought the rear down just a little.

Pump until you attain the correct ride height, rather than go by the pressure. The specs are: early cars front 13 +-1/4 and rear 13 1/2+-1/4 and later cars 12 5/8+-1/4 and rear 131/8+-1/4. Later refers to car 830061 for Austin Cooper, 820487 for Austin Cooper s, 830127 for Morris Cooper and 820705 for Morris Cooper S.
Thats about where it is. I measured from the center of the hub to the bottom of the arch. I guess it must just look strange to me. Thanks for the response.

Anyone have some pics of a properly inflated Hydro car from the side. I just finished pumping up mine and when I check the ride height per the haynes manual it just looks too tall. ie Too much wheel gap. It could be the gradual sag I have encountered since I last checked it(2005) has just caused me to get used to the lower look. Thanks,Hal
