No worries, Todd. I honestly don't want you to think I'm being rude. Just trying to give you a leg up. If you want to email me off the board to ask any questions, please feel free. My email is in my profile. I definitely don't have all the answers, and when I don't know 100% I will definitely tell you. There are a lot of great guys on here and they are all willing to help. But many just don't like feeling like they are doing the work for you. haha. I know you're probably more than willing to get in there and start fixing it, and I look forward to seeing it.

Todd, I don't mean to sound rude but if you don't even know what you're looking for, you're going to have a difficult time getting help. If you don't know if it's a 2 prong or a 3 prong, then I can only assume you haven't even bothered to get under the dash and try to find your flasher relay. That would really be your first step. I personally don't know enough to tell you which cars came with a 2 prong or a three prong. I'm pretty sure that the first MKI/II cars were 3 prong, 70-91 were 2 prong, and 91-on were 3 prong again.
But even if that was 100% correct I don't know what year your car is. And maybe your car isn't exactly the year you think it is. Could be some weird split year thing or maybe you have a re-vin (not that that's a bad thing... just something to consider). Or maybe your car has been rewired at some point.
See all the variables you're asking us to deal with here? There are a LOT of people on here that will outright refuse to help you if you won't bother to try to help yourself first. And your time owning the car won't really be as enjoyable if you don't jump in and try to figure out some things yourself.
I'd love to let you know which unit I used on my car, but like I said... I have absolutely no way of knowing if it's actually applicable to your car or not.
Help us help you.
MtyMous...understood. I'll do better next time. I've been reading some threads in the UK forum & it was confusing. Thought I'd ask owners here in America for their opinion.

Larry, I know that you have not had luck with the electronic flashers but I have. I have used Tridon EL13 flashers in applications needing 3 prongs and EL12 for the 2 prong installations. The 3 prong EL13 flasher in my Mini has been in place for 12 years.

Electronic doesn't last very long. Stay with mechanical if available.

Gosh. I'm sorry...could you be more specific? What type of relay? Is it the three prong or two prong? Do you have a part number?

yes. I just grabbed one off of the shelf at O'Reily's. It was in the self-help section. There's one that's cheaper than the others, less fancy packaging, and is on the bottom row-- I had to dig for it. It's like 1/2 the price of the electronic one at eye level.

Howdy,
Has anyone fitted an electronic flasher in their classic?
Any part numbers or instructions would be greatly appreciated. My flashers lately would sometimes go out or stay lit.
