Uh, from that article it seems most of the Fords you are taling about were actually built in Mexico.  As to MiniSportUSA...well, who expects a clown to be anything other than a clown.

The Fords built in Mexico are assembled with 55% of the parts made and shipped from the USA. The recall article also includes Fords built at the Michigan USA Plant. Ironically, some BMW's and Mercedes are now being built in the USA. No thanks.                      Mini Estate

true mal, but some of these determinations where a stretch.the important

thing is the situation was resolved by a reputable company and the

customer was more than completely satisfied. a lesson to be learned?...perhaps

That's the trouble with the internet words can be perceived more than one way with no face to face contact.

Strange indeed.

I've dealt with Mini Sport many times in the past and they are very helpful when mistakes get made. I can also say the same for 7ent and Mini Spares. I haven't ordered from MM in years -I have my reasons but I do enjoy the forum and Thank them for that.

Fster- I did not read your first post as a bashing. It can be frustrating to wait for parts and plan to get a project done and then receive defective or wrong parts. I've been there and it stinks. Nobody likes their time wasted. It does seem from others that as you say, "You are the lucky one."  It sound like MS is taking care of it. Best of luck with the repairs.

Bson-  As others have said -the replacement items we are getting nowadays just don't have the craftsmanship or materials they had in the past and don't last as long. I would try giving 7ent. a call and speak with someone directly. They even have a toll free number.

Shawn

impolite or bashing in nature.i was warned that this forum is a strange kettle of fish, but i had to find

out for myself ,i guess.ya learn somethin new every day.

finkster, pointing out and emphasizing on the price difference (of$37)between MM's and Sport moreso posting it on MM forum is a bit impolite and bashful in nature.your sending a wrong signal to readers and newbies and visitors,  just an imo..no offense meant fink

if the price is very low somewhere, somehow there is always a catch, nobody in this planet wants to loose in any business. i'll put more money on the quality not on the shipping.

that's why i always like to buy from the used parts section of MM, where members sell their spare parts(mini's), but a little word of caution, some prices jumps like gas prices do, i recently bumped into this carburetor for sale, looks functioning to me tho, ad priced at $80, and when i emailed the owner who happens to be a real nice guy(to some) told me that the real cost of the carb is $180, i was like really?????, i guess it really depends on how they like or hate you, prices varies.

talking about business ethics here, i tellya!!..... aaanyway!

Finkster it's pretty clear you're the one with the crossed threads.  You've gone on Mania's forum and bashed Mania and Mini Sport over something that the rest of us all know has nothing to do with the dealer at all.

When these things happen to the rest of us we man up and fix it, or politely call the dealer who will always, always replace it without an issue.  Just like they did for you now.

That wasn't too hard for your highness, I hope.

As someone who buys a ridiculous amount of parts and builds the occasional mini, these things happen from time to time. I had a windscreen panel show up crushed once. Just this week had a package show up with parts to a completely different car. Both non minisport related incidents. Glad they got it resolved and good luck with the build.

things together and i got hit with that. crap happens, i wanted some info, and like i

said, the majority of it was positive.i'm sure there will be more problems along the

way.i'll just think more before i title a post. although i still don't think it was bad.

They are a reputable company along with others our host included who have been doing business for a long time and did not get where they are screwing customers over. The backplate assemblies along with a lot of other Mini parts are more than likely made by the same company for all the major Mini parts suppliers but unfortunately price dictates most purchases and quality seems to come secondary in todays world. Don't be put off as you are re building a Cooper S that has been off the road for a long time and i am sure you will run into the same problem with other parts no matter where they are purchased. Good luck with the build.

Mike and Rhonnie enjoy the IMM and rest up for that long ride home :-)

yeah spitz, i would say it's before postage, but so is the $80.you have to pay

it either way. granted it's more in the uk, but 36 bucks to ship all that i got was worth it.

if i wanted it in the same time frame in the states, the shipping would have been more...

I think that $37 is probably before overseas postage....maybe not (?)
