todd, MM sells the backplate for 80 bucks.SPORT sells them for 37 bucks.

seems like a pretty huge difference. i can't believe they'd match that.

i read the title of my thread as an inquiry as to wether MINI SPORT USA is a

reputable dealer of quality merchandise, thus the question marks.i have

listened to most of the comments and have seen a lot of reassuring things.

apparantly, mike guido took it as a personal attack. i'm not seing that at all.

so ,apologies to mike if he feels slighted in some way...lunatic?...maybe.,but

just a dissapointed and pissed off customer at the time of this thread.having slept

on things, i find myself mildly aggravated, but i'm sure i will get over it.i guess

people like to read their own emotion into type. i wasn't ranting or raving, i just wanted some info.

i will think harder and take a pill before i title my next thread.

I’m currently in Lithuania at the International Mini Meet (IMM). Last night around midnight I checked my Mini Sport emails as most reps do on vacation to find a lunatic rant about a bad set of back plates. I thought wow, I should go on the Mini Mania forum and tell the world about this guy with a title “Bob Eglinton is a lunitic????" But then I thought, wait a minute, maybe I’ll give him a chance and work it out with him before I write negative things about him for the world to see. So, as I don’t have the answer at midnight for him, I sent his email to Mini Sport UK to respond to him the following day (As I will be enjoying my vacation and Mini Sport UK is helping to fill my place.). Note, any email that is written to me has a return email stating where I am and that I will get back to them ASAP.

Then I wake up to check my Mini Sport emails as most reps do on vacation to find that one of my hundreds of customers emailed me about this thread. I sat up in bed and looked out the window across the beautiful lake to the IMM island and thought how did I get here? Oh, that’s right, by the hundreds of great customers I have (THANKS!). Some of them are standing by me on this thread and then of course the haters look for blood on this site to say crap about me with no facts to back up their hate… (Note, buying from me/USA or the UK is the same product) To the haters I say, I’ve driven our Mini 2,500 miles throughout the UK/Europe (8 countries) and are at the IMM for the trip of a lifetime, you’re not, haters don’t get far in life.

Regarding the back plates, all I know is that we sell hundreds and hundreds of them, even mass quantities to road sweepers in the UK. So, wait for Mini Sport UK to respond before this unfair thread continues. The IMM opens in 45 minutes, I’m out of here! Have a GREAT weekend, I will!!!

Little known fact... Mania matches all prices and will do what it takes to get your business.  Just call or email.

I stopped going anywhere else for this reason.

blowin a gasket!! what if the threads in the backplate are ****ed?and you obviously didn't read my initial comment or look at the picture.

the screw won't go in straight so unless there's a screw on an angle , it's gonna be more than swappin screws. unf'n believable.

I've ordered several rear brake kits from minisport over the years and never had a problem. There was an issue with their 1.5 rockers awhile back that a few of us had problems with, but they fixed the issue and I was happy with the service. I wouldn't blow a gasket over some adjuster screws that need to be swapped out though.

Finkster, if you're asking about the "clown" comment, it's because Mike is LITERALLY a clown. lol Some might say he's the world's fastest clown...

Not talking about Mike Kearny. They do not label their parts "Made in USA" and the overwhelming majority of their parts are high quality. Your entire post is speculative and conpletely wrong. You've concocted a random story and then acted as though it is fact. Nothing in your story is accurate. That's pretty presumptuous of you and really not necessary. We've established that MiniSport-USA has a good standing and sells some great parts at a fantastic price.

Lets move on, Rob.

Uh, from that article it seems most of the Fords you are taling about were actually built in Mexico.  As to MiniSportUSA...well, who expects a clown to be anything other than a clown.

Your email to Minisport-usa.com will likely go directly to Mike who is a fantastic guy and an excellent business rep. I've done thousands of dollars of sales through him and specialty orders as well. I've had a few problems with parts, but that's not his or the company's fault IMO. The original manufaturer may have a few defects and that's jut sort of part of this modern parts game we play. Should it be brought to their attention? Absolutely... otherwise their manufacturer will never know they have a problem to fix.

I have the exact parts that you are talking about in your first post and they are on my car right now. They adjust smoothly and have zero issues. I have a feeling you may have picked up a pair made by the Original Manufacturer on an early Monday morning. lol. Sorry to make light of your situation, but these things do happen. If there's any way at all that Mike can make it right, he will.

As for MiniSport-USA making their own parts, yes... they do. Some of them are fantastic and have great track records. Some don't. But the ones that don't have a great record tend to be based on part type vs part manufacturer in my opinion. For example, the roller tip rockers they sell have had issues in the past, but so have many manufacturers of this part. I just so a lot of research before buying ANY parts. Even brake line fittings. haha.

Keep us posted. I'm sure you'll have your resolution soon.

7 shipping time is fantastic, no complains, just some small electronic parts failing here and there,it's out of their control i know.

but Nick upton is handling everything well i guess since the transition.(it always cross my mind that he is related to my new crush Kate UptonKiss)
