Dont get a Mini from Okinawa.  I was there for 3.5 yrs and everything rusts there.  I cant imagine what a Mini from Okinawa would look like.

I imported my 82 Austin Mini from the UK using Phoenix Cargo and a broker from Houston.  Send me a msg if you need their contact info.

I guess it depends on where you buy the Mini's in Japan Rick, the ones up North do have rust but no where near as bad as some of the UK ones i have seen. The ones down South have zero to little rust from what i have seen not to mention the plus (to some) of the a/c some of them come with. As with any site unseen vehicle purchase unless you have someone there looking at the vehicle for you it may end up disastrous.

The way importing and pricing/shipping/insurance etc is going Malbuddy you would be ahead of the game to find a Mini here in the US.

We have seen fuel injected Minis come in from Japan with serious rust issues.  Most important to get a good asessment of the Mini you might buy from a reputable source...try contacting Mini Clubs, Mini forums to make contact with knowledgeable people in other countries - Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada....

No same rules it is the good old USA that has the 25 or older rule not other countries. You can find older Jap spec cars and would be way ahead of the game to do that as the rust is zero to minimal on those cars. If you live in California they have their own set of rules and you cannot register a 1990 import.
