Thanks for the input Todd and Dan. The way things are going it would seem wise for MM to look at update or invest in whatever they need to do to try and prevent this BS from growing into a nightmare as there seems more of these distractions every month.

I can ban via IP address on my forum, don't see why you couldn't here. I can also mass delete post by a user. So it doesn't take but more than 10 seconds to clean up.

It's easy to build an IP address detect but harder to fit it into the rest of the application (the one we're reading now).  

It's about a week of work to have each visitors' IP address added to their data record, and then create a function to alert a mod or admin when a new record with that IP appears in the table.  

(At least I would charge for a week of work, lol )

 

I completely understand you have plenty to do Jemal than be bothered wasting time on the likes of him and i was only referring to you as you were the one chasing him last time. As far as egging him on i don't think (and you may or may not correct me) i have blasted him that much this time, maybe when he gave some wrong information to people asking questions i did. I guess what i cannot get my head around is how he can just keep re appearing and let loose to do and say what he wants when others get nuked immediately (there seems enough time for someone to do that), and no i don't profess to know how computer systems work or what it takes to keep idiots and scum out or whether MM's system is equipped to do so easily. Just remember your words were "he has to speak with me personally before he will be allowed to post here again" he is just taking the pi$$ now at MM's expense.

Just for the record Jemal i have not contacted or bothered you once off line about this problem. This is a good forum with a few rotten apples that need dumping.

BUT you seem to think I have nothing else to do!   I've been trying to kill off this schmuck that thinks he's going to sell this group fake IDs!!  Just what hole do some of these accidents of evolution crawl out of ?? 

I doubt this is the last time I'll have to say this, if you don't think someone is worth your time, IGNORE THEM, instead of egging them on!!!!   If you are incapable of doing that, there is not much I can do for you....

But the bear would not be there if MM followed through with their original ban would it Jemal. It almost seems like a double standard in some ways where people like BC for example will post and he or it gets nuked (and trust me his posts are way more informative than the problem poster and he has been more forum friendly of late) but "Special boy" carries on posting giving stupid advice amongst other things on subjects he knows nothing about and gets ignored by MM staff. Just my 02c rant over.

The feature is not for a group to use but individuals.

For example I just hate the fact that Zippy shoves his Moke "Mini Wannabe" thing in my face all the time and makes me wallow in the misery of selling mine. So I can just click a button on his username and poof I'll never have to read any of his Mokeporns anymore 

Just make sure it's not Don.

An idiot button would be nice, but opens the can of worms as to who decides what constitutes an idiot!  There are many people who feel that anyone who disagrees with them is an idiot!  I think we just have to live and let live in this setting!  I'm just baffled by all the masochists that seem to enjoy the aggravation by feeding the bear, then complaining that it bit them!   I've tried and tried to tell them to roll up the car window and look away, instead of hanging the baby out to entice the bear!  

Or an ignore idiot feature that I've been begging for since aboout 10 years ago.

its internet. Unless the site decides to implement added security and be a very strict closed group where it has the capability to detect IP address or stuff like that to totally ban certain user's computer (to prevent certain individuals creating profiles) then all this will always happen. You can't control that. Not everyone joining will behave or satisfy/ please everybody. I've been designing websites and have moderated forums before and there's no need to really dwell on it. The more attention you throw at it the more it will get worse I think. Don't feed the drama.

Ive recently had my own personal fair share of this even outside the forums (and that's even worse than annoying you online). I'd personally just let it go and get over it.
