Oh man... how sad. I just chatted with Rocky via the list years ago, Nice guy.  I'll have to do a tribute to him  on the show this week.

Peace.

Here's a video of Rocky's career as he was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.  Interesting that he played in Garth Brooks sisters band.  He had better things to say about her than he did Garth.  According to Rocky, Garth got audited by the IRS just about the time he hit it big and there was much discrepency between what was earned and how much cash never made it to the books.  Anyway, (again according to Rocky) Garth threw a bunch of Oklahoma band members under the bus to save his butt.  Many years later it was still a sore subject with Rocky.  All in all though, I still liked Garth as well as Rocky.  Must be where his inspiration for "Friends in Low Places" came from.

Rocky and I did some horse trading before he crashed the luggage, and I think I turned him on to your shell Mike (MEB).  Over the years we talked cars, I found him to be a real warm down to earth person.  Namaste Rocky, smooth sailing.

In the late 1990s I had a complete Heritage shell for sale. Around that time The Luggage, Rocky's Mini, was totalled in an accident. Rocky called me about my shell and said he could have someone pick it up. Two days later one of Rocky's buddies drove from Oklahoma to here in Maryland with a trailer, picked up the shell, paid $3K cash and headed back to OK. Anybody who could get a non-Mini friend to do that had to be okay.

RIP Rocky

Rocky Frisco

It goes back to well before the MiniMania forum existed, back in a world that had only a mailing list ...

We traded parts, sold each other parts.  He is missed  RIP Rocky

Anyone who encouraged people to read Terry Prachett couldn't have been all bad...

RIP Rocky

Sorry to hear that. I had kind of forgotten about Rocky. We emailed back and forth years ago about mini parts.

Hugh, I don't believe I ever had the pleasure of meeting Rocky.

But I took a peek into his remarkable life and can say I would have liked to have.

I just heard that my friend Rocky Frisco in Tulsa just passed.  Rocky was a die-hard Mini fan and legendary musician.  Former member of the JJ Cale band and Inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, Rocky was "old school" rock and roll and blues.  He raced Minis throughout the 60's and his personal Mini called "The Luggage" was his pride and joy.  I met Rocky several years ago during some of my travels.  I always took time to stop by his Tulsa home whenever I passed thru Tulsa.  Last time I saw him was about 3 yrs ago when I took him out to Dennys in Tulsa for lunch.  Always enjoyed the stories from his incredible life.  He was such a great guy and oh, the stories he could tell.  RIP Rocky my friend and Mini brother...your presence will definately be missed, but Heaven now has reunited you and JJ again!
