Man, I couldn't even blow air through that hose!

Luckily the hose and hard line though the "hole" on the inner fender ( rad side ) came off with no arguement what-so-ever.  I'm sure I'll pay for it when parts arrive to change the rest of the hoses.

Good find Matt. I have run into quite a few of them over the years and not just on Mini's.

Good find on the brake hoses.  That started my entire brake rebuild, but by the time i figured out it was just a hose i was to far in.  I ended up using th steel braided ones, cause damnit i didn't want to deal with it again.

Bearings...no play there....definately brakes heating the wheel

Check the hoses too Matt they may be disintegrating on the inside and holding pressure on the brakes.

Are you sure it is the brakes rubbing that casued the overheating? I'd check the bearings too.

Maybe it is the brakes - too tight brakes would drag noticeably until they fade away. From personal experience, I know twin-leading can fade away to nothing and stay that way until cooled down. Never had burnt boots though.

A new-to-me ar has twin leading shoes fitted.

Brakes are installed correctly, but the wheel was pretty hard to turn by hand after a run.  Wheel was nice and hot.

After a few minutes, the wheel was easier to turn.......so I backed off the adjusters and was able to pull the drum.

I'm guessing the melted rubber was slowing the pistons return!

I've removed all remnants of the dust covers and melted rubber and blasted with brake cleaner.  I realise new cylinders are in order....just showing how hot things can get
