We Canadians don't need gloves/mitts until it is really cold, so why would we get hairy palms from the cold? (Just sayin')

Brian Vinciguerra, Whitehosue Station NJ, Age 35.

My father always had a project car as a child. It was natural that I got into cars as well I guess. Although we have had others, British cars have been the main stay. When I was 12, I went with my Dad to a Brit specialist to have a look at some troubling Stromburg carbs off a TR6 and remember actually stopping in my tracks as I spotted a my first Mini in the wild. It was medium blue MK1 with a white roof. I dont remember any other detail but that was the moment I fell in love. I'm sure my father was excited I had such an interest. After a couple years of looking through books (the interenet was not really aroiund yet) by father made me a deal, get straight A's and I'll buy you a Mini to restore. It was a tall order as I never applied myself in my early years of school but much to the surprise of both myself and him, I did it. He actually had been searching from the start and surprised me with MY very own 1966 Austin Cooper 998. We fixed up a trailer and drove to VA to get it. Man, what a roach but it was complete. I started restoring it the second we got home...and still am!!! Actually, its a very much stalled project at the time. College, dating, working, home purchases, marriage, baby, another home, another child...you get the idea. I did however decide that I needed a Mini in my life though and in 2005, I went over to England and bought my Rover Mini Monte Carlo LE. It was actually the first time I ever drove a Mini, hard to believe but sadly true. That has now become my much loved, often frustrating, but always rewarding project.

Where we're from is not necessarily where we're at.

Born in Puerto Rico, grew up in NYC and due to USAF wound up in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1973 and stayed there until 2011. Retired not by choice and moved to Highland, AR.

Bought my 1st Mini back in the late 70s when I was NCOIC of the Auto Hobby Shop at Carswell AFB. Kept it for a short time and sold it. Bought my 2nd Mini in 1985. Still have it and it's name is Mad Dog. Also have own a Leyland Mini named "The Red Baron" due to it's German Spec and just bought a 1974 MG Midget.

hum were to start

my parents got a 75 Innocenti Mini from a German Air Force guy in New Mexico about 15 years ago or so, they drove that unit it started to have problems, and then it sat and now I have it and am slowly rebuilding it/daily driving it

and then I got a UK spec mini in England and spent the next 6years rebuilding it from the ground up while living in England and now that I have it in the states im doing some more upgrades, QA1 coilovers in the front but i'll have that done this weekend, I plan to have this car on the road by July, new wiring harness and a few other small things

now I live in Tucson AZ, 85756 and go out to Yuma AZ all the time(have family in Yuma) I know of a crashed mini in Yuma, some high school kid on the 16v mini forum I was talking to said it was getting a vtec swap so he says but it needed some front end work

I work Veh Maints in the Air Force and I like long walks on the beach, oh wait we don't have that here in AZ, lol

When it get really cold, the fish in the lakes and rivers grow a winter coat. American tourists never see these because they come up when the weather is warm. Note the Canadian holding the fresly caught fish isn't wearing gloves.

It scares me to think that he may bring his troll like nipples to Canada. Thank goodness there is a troll bridge between us.

Winter? I do that in the summer. It's the best time to build my igloo house and igloo garage. Hahaha. The temps here are pretty average. You do get some cold days here but not too many. I have worked on the rigs in my younger years and it was -52 degrees Celsius plus windchill and that was in Tumbler Ridge BC.

Not the coldest place on earth. Not even the coldest place in Canada.

Not to worry Dan, the young man doesn't even know where he lives.
At one point he said that he lived/worked in Yuma, Arizona. Now, suddenly he lives in Texas.
So, either he's making at least a 500 mile commute* both ways, or he lost his job and moved back to his parent's basement....

*-I wonder if he makes that commute in his reliable old Mini or the scooter....

The winter I spent in Regina, Sask, we had a -49 temp with a -95 windchill...and that temp was in fareheight!!! Cars parked outside with 2 block heaters and a battery warmer would not start for 2 days............which is why I only spent 1 winter there..and Winnipeg is worse.......

Once upon a time,my mini stalled on me, this forum really helped me a lot, some are nice, some are.. nevermind, but most are nice. this is where i experienced bending back or staightening a bent carb needle, this is also where i learnt that synthetic oil is more slippery than the regular conventional oil.(the member who said it might have spilT a syntheitc oil on the floor, stepped on it and he stumbled, that's how he discovered that synthetic oil is slippery, gosh cc) aaanyway,to continue, i'm a hobbyist, i want to make something out of nothing, if i have missing parts on my mini, i'd look for some things in my backyard first before i buy. i'm a very practical person.

Hmmm... Not really Texas any more, is it Tony.  Tony lives in Yuma, AZ.

We probably keep what my sleuthing has revealed between ourselves.  I'd prefer it that way, but you can't seem to tell any truths now can you.  And, how can we trust you when you continue to try to snow-job this message board's above average intelligence membership.  It might have worked for you on the teenager scooter forums, but it's really getting a bit old on this one.  As suggested many months ago, just be honest for once.  Be nice and people will be nice to you too.

I could have sworn that the bridge in this image as seen in your video was in fact the Penetentary Road (also known as Quechan Rd) bridge as it crosses the Colorado River.  I can clearly see St. Thomas Yuma Indian Mission just ahead of you as you drive over the bridge with the railroad tracks on the right hand side.

Remember, I used to work in Yuma.  The next time I'm in town, we'll have lunch.
