It always gets more complicated! I'm trying to use a new wheel that has a horn button instead of the stalk mounted "button"
Got it apart there were some "modifications" made somewhere in the past.
Should be easy going from here.
Thanks for all the help.

The last picture shown is a MKI column The MKII Column has the horn on the end of the turn signal switch and is wired through the plug half way down the column. I dont think a MKII column had a hole through it BUT I can check ....... Mousy

This should show the center wire assembly... The wire is not a Whole wire, but mearly a Contact from the Brass ring  up to the horn contact. This all is a means of providing grounds.

With center colum out of the outer column  you can then gently tap the Brass ring upp and off the shaft.

that will release the two plastic Isolators from the column shaft-  and within one side-- one has a hole- that you will see contacts the brass in one part.

That's entirely possible. There's a red wire that is cut off flush at the top and doesn't exit anywhere.
I'm assuming it's the horn wire.

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly (and unless the car is an Elf or Hornet), the Mk II horn wire didn't run in the steering column like the Mk I.

I need to run a new horn wire inside my steering column. I don't want to destroy my column. How does it come apart? And what is the route the wire takes.

Thanks
