Looks good Dennis but won't the plate hinder the air flow through the auxilliary radiator ?

So only two #67 metal plates? Anybody else? Yes I still want the sump guard. the older it look the better. The more plates the cheaper it will be for production. I'll get back with you guys for the amount. might be costly to produce but designing on template is already over half the savings so it's all good. This will go in my portfolio anyway.

Exactly how I wanted it. In hydraulic press metal plate. He emailed me a few samples and I was really impressed. They did a few plates of road signs and they're professional looking. The letters and numbers aren't pressed except the borders so it should be easier.

If these #67 (worn/distressed) Acropolis tribute plates are being made in metal, then it's a fantastic gift.

I wouldn't mind having one on the wall in the garage...

Abomination of what?! Not like I'm going to resell it on ebay and claim it's the original #67 plate. We can even draw a contract how's that sound? I understand the issue here but it's really for my husband and he would be stoked to see it as an anniversary present.

But I'm glad you mentioned and I wanted to make it clear with you.

Because of the expense involved, I'd only go for one if others are interested as well - number 67 would be wicked cool, but 1962 Tulip Rally number 104 would also be a fantastic tribute.  If I'm not mistaken, Pat Moss/Ann Riley drove their mini for the BMC mini cooper's first ever overall rally win.

Otherwise, like most mini ephemera, I'm content in knowing that these plates will survive in enthusiat collections.

(I haven't found their actual plate for sale, so can't really buy it.  Just need to change the number if doing a magnetic 'tribute'.)

Nice offer, and it would make a great magnetic vinyl magnetic sticker.  Something to just slap on and have fun with it.

Sadly, though, I haven't access to anyone who does that sort of thing over here, otherwise would have had some magnetic number roundels made up with a very faint 'smiley' watermark to match the smiley bubble stickers that I had made up in the UK.

Heres the mockup I made. (Thank you for making my Friday afternoon productive otherwise Id already started my weekend haha) The top most is the one I created. Let me know Novice if you like these. The one in the very bottom is what it will look like (color) after treatment to make it look like old. Then it will go to stages for patina. (Will be crumpled a bit, fade it on the corners giving it some evidence of 40 years of wear and tear) FUN!

Other Mini clubs: I can make you guys one if youd like. I cant pay for materials and printing but design wise Its on me.

Jeg: If this dude doesnt want it I can email you a raw copy and you can take it to a printshop. Whats good about it is that the original isnt embossed so its cheap to produce really.

Novice: This could be an abomination lol. Give me a few minutes I'll make you one on illustrator and post it here in small lowres jpg. If you like it then email me and we'll talk. I can almost guarantee its gonna look the same. Im going to do some research and get the correct color codes for the 1964 Acropolis Rally plates (im sure theres a few photos out there in a much decent condition) so the one im posting later will be clean looking. The plate looks like its white on blue (not tan or off-white on blue). The patina finish will be done in stages. Whats cool about this Acropolis plate is that the numbers and letters are not embossed like the Monte Carlo Plate so its a lot easier to replicate. Me and some design students did a few of these back in the day. But nothing of this value. So im excited.

66Coop: Yeah kind of (rally tin plate) but Novice here just gave me a cool idea for a vintage project. Im looking for a few other stuff like 10" wheels to trade with my leather bucket seats. Its a never ending project.

I used stainless steel bolts and nuts with finishing washers which are perfect to get a good grip on leather if you have no plating like the ones at works mini.

The lightbar I made is pretty solid but for sure I'll have to add another bracket but not sure where to attach it yet. The previous setup I had was mounted to the right/ top oil cooler open mountIng holes plus support bracket located next to the bonnet latch and that was pretty sturdy. Thanks to this forum I learned how to wire relays and extra fuseblocks for accesories. right now I'm getting emails for requests to have my mini used in engagement photoshoots haha. Thanks to Facebook and Instagram.

Hopefully I can have good resources and find a nice Monte Carlo rally plate, vintage roof rack from Pedro's Rack and a reverse light and I'll probably be content... sure...

It's no surprise that your mini is in demand, it looks awesome!

Mur was a fantastic resource when I did my big lamp and relay project - my mini now has 8 relays, 2 fuse boxes (accessory fuse box is relay switched so all future accessories can simply be plugged in), a junction box, many switches - whew, I learned a lot doing this.

Have you checked this guy's website for a rally plate?  //www.prs17495.demon.co.uk/rallyplates.html

Not Monte Carlo, but still really cool:

CG22.    ACROPOLIS RALLY 1964 RALLY PLATE. This is from the works BMC entry of Hopkirk and Liddon in an Austin Mini Cooper S, registration number AJB 55B.The plate is made of tin and measures 17 x 7 1/4 inches. Price £900

You'll never be content, though, you'll always find something more to do...

Armycook, I saw your graphics design portfolio. If you can make an exact worn plate replica I mean make it look old and crusty of this #67 rally plate, I'd like to make a nice offer if you can make me one.

(Consolidating the threads so I deleted the other one since its relevant here...)

I met this fine gentleman from Holland on facebook just this week and I was interested in some items he was selling (1 pair of Marchal lamps and 1 pair of Lucas driving lamps) Both sets at a veryyyy low price. I wanted to buy it but he insisted bank to bank transfers. Ive always used Paypal on all online transactions because it is safer. I finally convinced him to open a Paypal account and so our transaction went smooth today. He was happy about his new Paypal account that he posted more ads but this time its his 13" Motolita Steering Wheel.

However the Steering wheel didnt come from an early mk1 but from a 1990 Cooper S which was the first one Holland and in Dutch magazines he told me.

Hes also selling a Chassis plate / Cooper S-pack number

This is an old picture of Mr. Orhan Simons with John Cooper. Guess theyre close to each other.

his email is: [email protected]

https://www.facebook.com/groups/531197090271643/permalink/909621539095861/

He told me he got an offer of $150 and could consider it.

Just wanted to share it. Have a nice day everyone! Id like to make a conclusion to this thread that I found the lights I was looking for. Im very happy.

I'm pissed I got outbidded the last 10 seconds. I swear theres a science to how this bidding works on Ebay. But I'm talking to this gentleman from UK asking for £100 for a nice pair of 7" Marchal driving lamps.

we'll see

No, it's a public group on facebook for classic mini parts for sale/wanted . If you joined you can put a request for a part, only down side is getting people in the UK to post (ship) to you. Great site for used parts. And some NOS (new old stock)
