Ive been browsing the youtube for the mmw2016 but i cant find any, not even one. Did the comittee designate an official video photographer for the mmw16? There should be one that records every moment of the event.

I dunno how active the Arizona mini Society is,but i wish the MMW2017 will happen in the state of Arizona, for a change, to uplift the morale of the mini owners and mini clubs around there. Maybe Sxsman can spearhead the event,he is now a true blue Arizonan. And Perhaps Chandler AZ can be a nice venue, or Surprise AZ,near the Lake. or even Parker Dam area. but it should happen in Jan or Feb....never in june thru aug.

Damn that looked like a good time, I'm originally from San Diego so I would have needed 2 weeks down there. I've just been trying to have a running Mini for the Oct Mt Hamilton run up here for years, maybe this year... Maybe in a 912 or 914 tho

Wow, MMW 2016 Organizers thought to give the FULL SolCal Experince. They even scheduled an EARTHQUAKE! Unfortunately, there must have been a typo in the contract because it came at 1am Fri morning instead of the intended 10pm Thursday night to signal the end of MMW and the banquet, sorta like fireworks signal the closing of Disneyland. But raffle prizes ran a little long, someone didn't see the 0 to make the 1 into a 10, yadda yadda yadda... outside contractors: Whattaya gonna do?

Had a great time with what I could partake in. Major props to EVERYONE involved in putting it on. Amazing job.

Hi Jeg,

The 'shims' are actually washers to go under the castle nuts.

Not a relevant question. When it comes to Minis, age is irrelevant.

I also decided to put hi-los in the rear, new rubber springs front/rear and check/reset the Koni dampers up front, new HD adjustable lower arms & tie-rods/control arms, new wiggly pins & bushes for the new lower arms, new steering rack rod ends (longer, greasable Spridget type), repack the rear wheel bearings while swapping over to Cooper S drums.

All followed by a laser wheel alignment to set up at

Front rubber springs were 4 dot & rear 3 dot...the latter collapsed as we headed across Canada.  Two stops to adjust the length of the rear trumpets before getting to Sault Ste. Marie.  Coming home we had a Club friend in a Subaru carry some of our extra gear west from Milwaukee and we gave him everything we would not need when we got to the Missouri River, as he had to sprint on ahead.

After I got home I swapped out the 'new' rubber springs and replaced with Moulton Smooth-a-Ride set.   And thanks to my seatmate, tossed the thoroughly trashed Falkens for a new set of Yokie 539s.

So, before heading for San Diego in late May/very early June, I will check all the drive shafts, suspension & brakes over for leaks, torn boots & torque everything to spec.  Like wise check over the cooling system, the ignition system, lights, battery/charging system etc.  Check tires for embedded screws/nails/glass, torn/damaged sidewalls...and give an oil change & lube including the greasable steering rack rod ends!

Check tools & spares, wash, wax, clean interior & glass...load camping & personal gear, turn ignition key and roll!

Rick, the photo of the rear hubs with the bearings sitting on the paper towel - what are the ball joint shims for, shimming against the cast spacer behind the outer bearing race as worn hub refurbishment?  Clever...

I just tossed 3 hubs into my metal recycling bucket, maybe I'll pull them out and give them another look.

A Honda 600! Damn... Now I gotta do that.

But not for tomorrow.

(I wanted to put an A-series in a BINI for MMW, but the same thing that's kept me from being part of the MMW organizing committee is the same thing that has kept me from installing a British Engine in a car assembled in Oxford in Cowley.

That pictured motor is for the LeMons moke-- it was getting a diagnosis for why the oil pressure dropped last event while it was it in the Club/LeMons mini. I plastigauged bearings and they are fine. Changed out final drive so it works on the 15" wheeled moke and replace sycros while it was open. Hope to have it at the car show and autocross.

I finished installing an 850 in the Club/LeMons mini so SDMinis club members can autocross it (and others in attendance, with the permission of an SDMinis club member). Hasn't run yet. Working on THAT too. It too will be at the car show as well as the LeMons MG Metro.

Sadly, I have no running, licensed street cars to bring to the event. Darned project house!

There's a lot of mini movement from the Northern California to San Diego, California happening right now. It's my first time and I've never had a clue this event would be this big. I have been feeding my motivation to get my car fixed through pictures and little stories being posted all over social media. So excited I think I will be so bummed out if I don't get my car fixed before tomorrow's car show. But regardless, I'm so glad it's happening in my backyard

Cant any wait to meet a lot of you there Tuesday at the Show and Shine event.

I took the courage to send Jay Leno a message through his Youtube accoount and his Jay leno's garage website, inviting him to attend the MMW2016  and grace the show, i send him the MMW2016 link.
Someone replied and said "thanks for the invitation, i will let Jay know about the event". Im guessing he might be JL's Personal assistant or someone working for him , or one of his crew, i dunno..(??)
So, he might or might not show up, he lives in Burbank ca, which is only 130.5 mi away from San diego...we'll see!!

Please, let's keep this to MMW 2016 in San Diego.

I understand there are 3 caravans grouping up as they head south towards SD. My understanding is one of the local news stations will be awaiting their arrival!

If you drive your mini going up a 50 degree angle hill, by the time you reach the top, your 850cc mini would be smoking like hell.

If one was able to drive a Mini up a 50 degree slope (of any distance, without a run at it) I think the engine would be OK (even a decent 850) but the front tires would be rapidly turning to blue smoke.

I haven't been to San Francisco, but I doubt any of the streets or nearby roads are 50 degrees.

Oh... Wikipedia has some data:

Filbert st. 31.5 degrees

(sharing the load, Jonathan!)
