It's not really like a Microswitch.  Right below the oil filter on the front of the gearbox you'll see a screw that secures the reverse gear detent.  You remove that screw, spring, and detent, and install a plunger, a spring, copper or fiber washers, and finally the switch.  You adjust the thickness and/or number of washers to get the setting right.

Larry didn't mention if he had the other parts or if this was just the switch.  If the link works, the picture below lists the additional parts you will need to find or make for the switch to work.  (Incidentally... the reverse switch on my car also came from Larry... MANY years ago. )

Ah. Ok I think I got it! Thanks! I forgot about your previous post.

I have two micro switches Todd. You can maybe just modify it to be mounted inside the car when the stick goes on reverse. They're spring loaded.

Looks outstanding Dennis.  I've been tempted to do this for awhile but my gothic nightmare of a shifter housing would probably chew up every switch I put in there.

Hope everyone notices what a cool, tasteful car he's putting together.

Remote is on the box Dennis, rod change one is on the shifter housing.

I'm thinking that maybe you need the small spring inside the reverse lockout spring to stabilize the push rod.

Its easy peasy Dennis. Take out the reverse lockout plug on the left front of the transmission. Put the push rod in the hole (I don't think you'll need the spring) then thread in the switch. You might have to make up a thin  wrench to tighten it up. Test it with a test light before  going any further. If it doesn't work the push rod might ne too short. Wiring it up is the most difficult step. You have to use a short oil filter.

I was a reverse switch hoarder at one time. These switches were on 1100s and 1300s never on Minis. There are other similar switches kicking around for MGs Jags etc but they have different threads. There is a spring and plunger rod in the box which I believe are the correct ones. The switch is NOS.

I'm on my phone, unable to share photos on my laptop.

In your picture it's rather central located not only on the boot lid but also on the number plate. A number of pictures I've seen have the lamp mounted more along the top line of the number plate. I do like the looks of the lamp mounting in your picture. Make sure it clears the rear bumper before drilling and mounting. Todd aka air2air may have some pictures of rally cars he might share.

Yep! Found one! Thanks! I took the hatch interior panel off and the location to drill isn't gonna hit the frame of the hatch which is great
