A friend of mine, a really good friend, passed recently.
I never had the chance to meet him in person. I wish that I had.
Zip, tell St. Peter that heaven needs more Mokes, otherwise its a totally boring place.
I can see it now...
there I am at the Pearly Gates, and Peter is looking in the Big Book, and he is tut-tutting and saying dood I don't think we can let you in and then some waitress way in the back yells out hey Pete let that guy in he's a good one... and way off in the distance I hear this A series wound out like its coming apart any second and the tires are screaming and just then

Matt, I'm very saddened to hear this, and I'm sorry for your loss.
I was fortunate enough to meet Robin a little over ten years ago when he was in Houston for work. We met at a dive mexican restaurant and watched the roaches eyeball the patrons. He was gracious, funny, and dining with him was a pleasure.
My condolences to you and your family.

Late night for me. Since Robin was mostly the photographer I am going to steal all of the ones you guys have posted on here. (Don't care about copyrights.) Again thank you all for your tremendous support and humbling stories and pictures. I love to tell his stories and jokes and can't wait to make and have many more with you and others in the future as well. And where is MME 2016? (Tried to figure that one out on that thread.)

In the pic of wild Willie sleeping it off, you will notice the hood ornament for his Massive Lincoln Towne Car showing up beside him
I believe it was the Lincoln that he was driving when he ran the Sherrifs Deputy off the road as he was cruising around the trails of Mid Ohio looking for pizza ?

Gods speed Sir.

Digging thru the archives for Big Al, here are a few more highlights from our grand adventure at the Runoffs Finale @ Mid-Ohio in 2005! Far too many of our friends in these pictures are gone, but the memories are FOREVER!!!
Here we have:
Willie and Barb "sleeping together".
The late Charlie Pollet (cosmowog) checking his phone after "the delivery" (with the late NJ in the foreground looking on).
Our man Zip giving us his best Ned Flanders moustache smile!

It was a Hillman Minx...and Robin would have had great fun mimicking my Red Light manouvers without a bonnet in the rain had he known about them. Rain would short out the sparkplugs on top of the flat head four at a Red Light, so I had a straw and would leap out and blow the water away from the plugs, jump back in and fire the Minx up for the Green Light. I got really good at the timing!

No Al, that would have been 2002 when we tent camped, and upon returning to the campsite after the annual Turn 1.5 (monsoon) party, we found our tents had nearly washed away.
The photo Se7en posted was taken during the year when our dearly departed friend Charlie (COSMOWOG) delivered a fishing cooler full of GTL picnic leftovers for consumption by all around the campfire.

Was that the time of the monsoon rains that washed out your campsite and you and Scargo had to "hide out" in the BIG BMC ?

6-7 years ago, Al? Think again. This Thursday will be 10 years to the day that this picture was taken of the strange stalker (BIGFOOT?) walking between Barb and my Mini at Mid-Ohio....just part of that strange and wonderful year with "The Adventures of Willie and the Pizza Man" that we all enjoyed so much!
Is "Big Foot" walking, or standing there doing something else? His posture and 'annoyed' expression looks like the photographer might have interrupted something.

About 6-7 years ago l went to the wilds of Ontarkio,North of Oshawa to source the white U K Moke for ZIP
I had found it advertised in a National car magazine and as l knew ZIP was looking for a Moke, l sent him the ad
He told me to go look at it and report back, l said it looks like he wants $10K minimum, so l drove up to see it, and it was rough, Snow White but crusty, top in poor condition, seat pads worse, a crudy looking 850 that barely ran and CTC winter nubby tires, some rust showing, just a disgrace but after my report ZIP still wanted it, so l said here is his phone #, you phone him Well,Zip and the seller a so called GM Executive could not agree on price based on the U.S. Dollar/ CDN DOLLAR premium-Zip got frustrated so l took $10K CDN and drove back up and sealed the deal even tho the vendor kept asking for $500,00 more (READ A$$ HOLE HERE)
I brought it home and then a week later trailered it to North Royalton OH, picked up Zippy & the 3 of us (BIG AL, ROBIN & BARB) headed for the SCCA Runoffs in MID OHIO wher he drove Barb all around the camp grounds and the racing area- Even tho he owned Murch the 1380 powered 59 mini, you could tell Barb was his new love
So fast forward 10 years or so and to-day l bought a dead ringer to the original Bsrb, a UK Moke in crusty white, crappy 850 and all Bringing it home from Toronto on Friday-
l can only hope this one turns out to be half the car that Robin finished up with
