Was the Roller a 20/25? They were designed for low speed in-city use, not for actual "highway" use.

A few photos from the Fall Escape...only one bit of hard luck...a MINI clutch blew up in Cache Creek.  Otherwise all home safely.

We had 22 people in 11 vehicles - 10 Minis/MINIs, with the Club President being chauffered by Helen in her 1937 Rolls Royce.  The RR presented some co-ordination challenges since it made 45-50 mph, sometimes a little less, rarely a bit more.

(ALL of my photo files are too big, don't have time to downsize this am)

OK, ROO checked over, extra rad taken out of cooling circuit (wifey will appreciate the cabin heat in the coolish ams), fueled up with extra fuel, coolant & a little oil on board.  Spares include reman alternator & belt, rad, heater & oil pressure line hoses, 25D & 45D dizzy caps/rotors/points/condensers, coil, water pump, bypass hoses, clutch slave, wheel cylinders & bearings...

Weather should be terrific in the interior.  We are off not later than 9 a.m. for Mile '0' on the original Gold Rush era Cariboo Wagon Road.

I think we have the Classic Minis covered...not sure about the 1937 Rolls Royce coming along!

11 Vancouver Mini Club Members taking part.

Thanks for the offer -

It sounds really great, and it's probably a good thing that flying anywhere isn't in the budget right now, I might not want to leave!  What would Hyacinth do without me?

A first in many years weekend getaway for Vancouver Mini Club Members...10 entries - 9 Classic Minis/Modern MINIs and one bloody great Brand X (either an early 50's Bentley or late 50's Chevy Del Ray). 1 '65 Cooper S, 1 Countryman, 1 custom Woody, 1 OZ Window Van, 3 Mini sedans, 1 MINI Cooper S, 1 MINI Clubman and 1 Brand X.

A little less than 600 miles on mostly secondary highways.  We leave the lower Fraser Valley for the Fraser Canyon and Mile 0 on the Gold Rush era Cariboo Wagon Road.  After lunch in Lillooet we will go a little further up the Canyon then eastward past Pavillion Lake to the later north/south highway (that runs all the way to Dawson Creek Mile 0 of the Alaska Hwy.).  We will turn southward for historic Cache Creek & Ashcroft before climbing up onto the plateau to pass the major metal mining operations in the Highland Valley.  Taking country roads from Logan Lake towards Lac Le Jeune then Kamloops.

Next day we head south on the original Kamloops-Princeton highway to the historic Quilchena Hotel on Nicola Lake, to Aspen Grove and on south, turning up the Tulameen River to historic Coalmont (yes there was coal for the Kettle Valley RR , tracks long since pulled up) and Otter Lake, where the Hudson Bay Co. brigade trail crossed the river on the way over Lodestone Mountain to Fort Hope & Fort Langley.  Following lunch in Princeton (originally Vermillion Forks where the Tulameen joined the Similkameen River), we will head westward on the Crows Nest Hwy. to modern day Hope and return to our starting point.

We hope it becomes an annual event.  Relatively low cost and not intruding on most work weeks, it will get VMC Members out on the road together for some touring & visiting.
