This is one of those areas where there is flexibility... There generally is no "danger"! Stock engines with standard ratio arms can safely use .012 for both intake and exhaust. You get a quieter engine, and possibly incrementally more 'performance'. Depending on the cam and the intended use. you can vary a little with no harm.... Most "stock" clearances are in the .012-.016 (thou) range, and most 1.5 arms say to "add a couple". I just set an Elgin race cam with about 1/2 inch valve lift at .015 intake and .018 exhaust. Real "big" race cams give numbers of .018-.020.
I say use your discretion.... If you think you'll see extended RPMs above 6000, add a couple thou of clearance! And careful with the chart that jeg put up... it is riddled with errors (NOT jeg's fault obviously!... just be careful! If an 002 is "one up from a Cooper S" does that mean a Cooper S had an 001?? I think not!)

Spank, sorry I couldn't get you the valve lash specs for the cam but I am glad the engine worked out for you. when I was running it I set it around .015 for both exhaust/intake.

The valve lash depends on the lift NOT the duration of the cam. If you don't know the lift then I would increase the the valve lash just in case.

MiniMania's CAM003 appears to be close to Elgin's 66-15 and 67-18 which I've highlighted for you. Because of the variance on the exhaust valve, I'd be tempted to call MiniMania and ask.

Somebody out there should have Elgin numbers. If no real data arrives, with stock rockers you should be safe with stock clearance on intake and +.002 on exhaust. If you can't have the cam itself Camdoctored, degree check it in the block with checker springs to see if the lobes are symmetric around center, if so (most likely) then you can make an informed choice for split overlap, rocker ratio, and rocker setting.
