Mine looks and sounds like your first video.  A lot of play and clunky noise comes from the rack which I suspect is a bushing.  I'll have to tear it apart to see if it's worth fixing.  New racks are cheap.

Yeah mine looked like it's all chewed up. Last thing I want is the balljoints getting reshimmed. That part I'm willing to pay to get done. I hated it.

I know someone that has extra steering track end rods so it should be good again before this week ends.

Before I even looked at the video I suspected the passenger side bushing in the steering rack. In my car the bushing was disintegrated. Getting the rack out, rebushed and back in isn't really that hard. I think I used a section of hose to make my own bushing. Makes a WORLD of difference, I know that much.

While you are at it I'd change the trailing/thrust bushings as well as the lower control arm bushings. ALL are simple fixes and will net you a much safer, more controlled ride.

Steering track rod end is the problem.

Can you describe the knocking noise?

My pax side steering rack has play and makes a knocking noise.  New rack goes in this week.  Otherwise I'd say bearings but sounds like you did those.

Only the passenger side has a play. Driver side is solid.

My guess is you need a new bushing in your steering rack.

Nothing is so bad that you can't make it worse by doing something rash or going berserk.

Both wheels wobble in the same way???  Move the wheel (better to have someone do it for you) while carefully checking the various joints in the steering system.  Sometimes its better to put a hand across the joint and "feel" for movement rather than try to "see" it...

You need to check the steering arm to hub joint, the steering arm to tie rod ball joint, tie rod to rack etc...

Cheers, Ian

Heres my passenger side wheel. It has side to side play but no vertical up and down play. I have new balljoints, new disc brakes and CVs, rechecked wheel bearings with the special washer and proper bearing sitting where it's supposed to be and still have this side to side play. the car pulls on one side when I press on gas aggressively but barely felt if gradual. When aggressively off on gas the car pulls opposite side. It stops straight and moves straight though. No vibration on the steering wheel and tire threads are all even on that wheel. Steering rack/ rod issues?
