Simplest would be Make: Austin
Model: Mini
Body type: Sedan
( Although correctly it would be a BLMC Mini 850 Saloon )

South Carolina had a heck of a time figuring mine out. I think they finally settled on calling it a Riley VTEC.

hi
think so ,you need to correct car title in Nebraska where is originated ,correct would be Austin Mini 1974. I have registered in Nebraska Austin Mini 1978 no problem with title or numbers.

So, when filling it out, do you think it'd be best to fill it out then as:
Make: Mini
Model: 850
Sound good? Heritage certificate Make and Model is: Mini 850 Saloon (kind of like Honda Civic Ex, so I'm thinking simplicity of Mini 850 and skipping submodel of Saloon. . . ) Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark
Yes that is what i would do along with a written explanation as to why you are doing it that way otherwise they may kick it back again.

It is tough, let me tell ya! I'm at least getting some ideas which helps. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all!

Saloon is not a model its a body style. There should be a space for body style in the tile (registration) but 2 door sedan would be better. Saloon is a European term.

It probably does not recognise Austin in the system. Your car would have originally been produced as an Austin Mini but in the 70's Austin/Morris was dropped and they became Leyland or just Mini's and later they became Rover. I would go with what the Heritage certificate states as that is the legal proof of what it is.

Greetings everyone!
I have a 74 Mini 850 that I'm trying to get titled through the state of Illinois. Needless to say, it's not going well. I received an automated letter from the Secretary of State saying their automated system didn't recognize my vehicle.
The car was orginally titled in Nebraska as a "Austin Cooper." I have the original British Motor Industry Heritage Trusty copy of the factory record and it is listed on that as a "Mini 850 Saloon." In hopes of getting a title issued that would be as accurate as possible, I've come here for help! I have heard my car called everything from a Morris Mini (make/model) to a Mini Minor to a Mini Saloon. . . .and the list goes on!
My question is this: In everyone's opinion or verbal outpouring of fact: WHAT ON EARTH SHOULD I TRY TO GET THIS BOOGER TITLED AS????
I need the most appropriate "Make" and "Model" that you can suggest. Or what would be correct! My concern is was it may have been titled incorrectly in Nebraska by whatever they had in their system that was closest.
