My A+ engine was converted to a non-verto clutch.  What's important is that you match the slave cylinder to the type of clutch you have.

Mine is fitted with a non verto could this mean it's been converted and would this still work ? Many thanks for your help ????

I think he means verto or non-verto clutch and I believe 1987 had a verto clutch with the corresponding slave cylinder.  You can tell which one you have based on the size of the throw out arm and if there is a spring from the arm to the slave cylinder.  A verto clutch uses about a 4 inch arm and the slave cylinder does not utilize a spring.  Non-verto arm is about 7 inches and uses a spring.  I hope this helps.

The later model brakes are servo assisted not the clutch.

Hi I'm embarking on my first project a 87 e plate mini, and I've noticed its fitted with a non servo slave. Before starting the resto she wouldn't engage any gears , I was thinking it could be seazed slave cylinder and started looking to buy a replacement then noticed that my year mini should be fitted with servo cylinder can anyone help !!!
