I went out to check this Mini before it was sold.

MK1 Cooper original Island Blue and OEW. Had been repainted a couple of times. A sad car which was woefully neglected. Had been sitting out in a field/yard for some time.  As such only good parts were the glass, Cooper chrome window surround, air filter assembly, and 1 serviceable chrome sliding glass lock. Remote shifter housing could be saved. Rest of drivetrain one solid block of rust. MINIFIN valve cover could have possibly been saved with a lot of elbow grease. Maserati air horn, probably beyond redemption. Even the Aston flip top fuel cap had issues.

Only worth getting if you were going to part it out. If it sold for $400 it would have been worth it, in that you can get your money back; but it would take some time to realize any gain and your labor for parting it out would end up being free.

rusty rusty rusty...

I wonder what the front corner that is holding up the fence actualy looks like...

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

Looks like an Island Blue 1966 Morris Cooper 998 to me and a very original one at that! Nice period accessories like the Speedmaster(?) wing mirrors, JV Murcott ali rocker cover, air horns, ali fuel cap. What a shame that the interior trim is completely shot and the engine will be rusted solid but really hope somebody saves it!

I'd love to know why that key hole is there behind the right rear wheel

Saw that a lot in the UK Matt, probably an alarm system with a battery cut off maybe could be why it was installed there close to the battery.

Good point Dr, It's stupid easy to get a title here for a car that is missing one but you might end up with a state issued vin# or might not, but if you did it could hurt the value of a S for sure.

I don't imagine it would matter a lot on a standard car. I would of course have them run the vin# here for any trouble getting a title before buying. My Dad lives near and could bring the car in a month or so otherwise I wouldn't even be looking the low price interests me but may well be false economy. I might call the guy tomorrow what I can see of it looks no worse than i have fixed before.

Floor pans, boot floor, batt box, a panels, sills, and stuff needing replaced don't bother me been there done that on minis before seems to kinda be standard procedure these days. The car looks bad in the pics sitting all half ass and such but im wondering how bad is it really? And its a hydro car not sure what to really think of that I guess its pretty cool to have if you can get enough good parts to make it work.

Without a title I don't think it matters if it was an S or not.  Good luck with that.

Thanks smurf, I'm still interested in the car wish i was closer to go take a look. For the price I could afford to put a crate of body panels in it. And i'm almost done with the 60 mini that's too nice to drive a lot so i'm looking for another project to make a driver out of. Anybody got a cheap project mini closer to this end of the country? I don't mind the really rough stuff others don't want. Although I do have a 50 chevy pu to restore in between minis I need to get on that for a while but if a mini comes along it can sit and wait for the chevy to be done. I've also decided I need a model A ford so somebody buy this mini so I can quit thinking about it.

Has anyone seen the 67 maybe s that's in the for sale section in person? Im wondering if there is a chance it is a s and if it's something that could be saved the rust don't look too bad looks like all the stuff you normally replace, but the pictures aren't worth much.
