Sorry Leanie, might be time to call a tow truck.  I am sure they have ways to load a car with locked wheels.  Make sure they use the tow hook when pulling the car...

I suspect its something electronic causing the problems - either the valve body in the transmission or maybe the EGS controller.  It may be as simple as updating the software, or it could be something failed....  best to have the dealer look at it.

Should the selector lever refuse to move out of

overridden:
1. Unclip the sleeve of the selector lever.
2. Pull the sleeve up over the selector lever
until the sleeve is inside out. Disconnect the
cable connector if necessary.
3. Depress the brake.
4. Pull up the loop on the passenger side while
at the same time moving the selector lever
into the desired position.

good luck.

Slightly worrying that the owner manual says "good luck" !

'good luck' was from me....

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

Tried to start 2008 cooper S and when I pushed the starter button the windshield wipers came on and the Gear icon with ! Mark shows on dash.  Can't get out of gear to tow either
