I'm hinacking my kwn thread, but I do remember those ads. I also remember standing up in the front seat of our Volvo Amazon with no belt at on at all as we drove down the hwy.
My '66 mini came with ONLY a shoulder belt, no lap. One of the first things I upgraded.
to bring it back around, the clock is still for sale, all offers considered.

When I read the header, it made me chuckle for a different reason.
Back in the early 1970's when lap belts were common but shoulder belts were a separate safety feature. (Remember separate shoulder belts?). A Volvo TV ad, promoting their safety features, including shoulder belts, crush zones etc., made a big point that Volvo was the industry leader in safety and convenience features, and that other car-makes were copying their lead. The ad ended with the line "Next year, we are adding a cuckoo clock", with a wink from the spokesman.
.
"Hang on a minute lads....I've got a great idea."

Yeah Spitz, pretty funny. If I ever get divorced, I'll make sure to present myself as "original '63 man"
by the way, also open to offers, and if it turns out to not be interesting to this crew I'll try at the abfm in Portland this summer.

Hey all,
I'm selling an unused collectible mini cuckoo clock.
Just tried it with fresh batteries, and it works fine - really only spent a few minutes out of the box since I recieved it, never hung on a wall. The mini is a BMW Chili Pepper model, but could be replaced by a similar sized classic if you have one. Apparently "only" 10,000 of these were made (oh yes, super rare! <grin>, and sold for $100 when the new mini came out.
Here are a couple of links:

//www.oobject.com/post-modern-cuckoo-clocks/mini-cooper-cuckoo-clock/1696/
First $85 takes, you pay shipping from 97219, or if you're in Portland, OR you can come and pick up!
