Nice!  If you can get a video of you & the Mini in an autox, I'm sure the community would greatly appreciate it. 

Well I mentioned a bit ago that I added the rear sway bar with amazing results.  I saw a nice Mini on BAT yesterday with a front swaybar but no rear one??  I haven't messed with suspension setups for a long time.  In my 72 Porsche I did that many years ago, corner balancing and the like, for better performance when I go to track days.  I think I remember something about how the sway bar works diagonally across the car.  Anyway it sure works on my car.  Can't wait for a local autox where I can compare it to the before problem of lifting the right front wheel.

I wrapped the exhaust manifold with heat wrap.

A lot has happened but here's what I did:

The Mini sat in the garage for 4 years or so w/o starting.  Life happened (ie: work, kids, house) so she sat untouched and unstarted (is that a word?).  The family is moving so I needed to start her up so I could use the garage for boxes & such.  Bought a new battery and tried to start her up, nothing but clicks.  In a nutshell, after all the troubleshooting...I was not getting spark from the ignition coil.  Installed a new one and fired her up!  BOOM!  She's now up & running.  Drove her up and down the street to get her up to operating temp so I can change the oil.  Also bought a new air filter. 

My goal this week:
- tune air/fuel ratio; spark plug says she's running rich
- install new air filter
- put back the carpet
- give her a quick wash

Cleaning up my work area to see what parts I have left over after assembling my mini.
Also cleaned up various tools after researching what they are.  Original owner included them with the car.

I didnt do much.  But the Mini is having ignition issues and it's making me really upset.  

Roundabouts and Minis can spell trouble. Or a least some unwanted tickets.

A couple of days ago I installed a new lightweight "race car" battery. This is new territory for me—I've always been a bit iffy about those little racing batteries and have formerly fitted an Optima Red Top in all my cars. Great battery; 5-7 year life. But it occurred to me that I've spent a lot of $$ making my car light, so why am I lugging around a 32 lb. battery? My new Optima PC680 weighs in at 12 lbs.

I have no accessories to speak of; no radio, no heater, no fog or interior lights. Not much of a strain on the electrical system. The battery's only job is to crank over an admittedly high compression engine, but if I understand correctly, the static compression of a high compression engine with a lumpy cam is actually lower than a lower compression engine with a mild cam. The new battery is on a "smart" charger delivering a float charge every night, so I'm expecting it'll last a good while.

Does thinking about installing seat extension brackets count? Maybe this weekend?

Replaced my rear brake shoes.

Discovered I had the springs on one side bass akwards

Just dropped off a tire/wheel at a local John Deere tractor dealer.  The tire was not holding air.  They will insert a tube.  This will allow me to move the car around and test “wet” suspension and brakes at the appropriate time.   Not meant to be “road worthy”; just “shop moveable”.  I will purchase new tires when the Cooper S is truely drivable.

Placed my Mini Police car model in the back window....and got an oil change done. Nowhere near as exotic as other posts here....but it was sunny, 25C  (80F) and a beautiful day for a spin. 

working on bodywork on the van build.. . all welding and panel replacement done, now doing cleanup of small dings and getting the panels flat and doors to fit....

Replaced the front EBS Red pads with EBS green.  Trying to cut down on the brake dust.  Changed the RH engine mount and since I had the wok off, clutch slave, spring, clutch lever, plunger and throw out bearing.

Fixed the servo.

put a removable (hinges) hood on the car.

Put on a new steering rack.

Now if I could just get it started tomorrow

Took a drive to the coast via one of the back roads to a place called Hebo.  Then came back via another road that met up with the one I started on.  Lot's of curves with a speed of 30-35 with the speed limit of 55.  Boy I'm telling you that rear sway bar makes an incredible difference for someone like me that likes autoxing , track days and that cool drive back in the hills.
