Ok well I can and have sold cars in America. So not sure what you are talking about. I know the process in and out. As far as CUBA good luck with that. I am Cuban (I still have family there) and if you think you are going to make money selling cars there you are sorely mistaken. I am sure you are like the general public who see fast and the furious filming there and you feel it is an untapped market for sales. Well what you don't realize is that the government and their cronies have all the money. How is anyone going to buy a car on a less than 25 dollar a month salary controlled by the government. Good luck with that. You obviously don't realize the REALITY down there. As for everyone else if you have any questions or are interested in buying or importing minis I source them from my older and younger brother around the world. I can give you references and I guarantee my work. Have a great day yall.

Why did you erase your post.....It contains pertinent info for interested people. I would recommend NOT buying off ebay or car and classic as those are just general public who may not know the shipping procedures at all and the resulting fines fall on the person receiving the car.
I dont mind importing cars for people. I have a money back guarantee if it doesnt clear customs so all the risk is on me. I can give references for past customers. Any one who is interested, contact me. Thanks!
I am guessing that BC didn't erase his post. It was more than likely done by MM as what you i and others see as an informative post they see in a "different" way.
Where are you located ? What are the main ports you usually import in to ?

I import cars and scooters from all over the world. I bring them in, tune them up and deliver them anywhere in the connected 48. Feel free to contact me with questions. I work directly with my brothers. One of whom lives in japan and one of whom lives in Europe.

I would have someone store it until it's into August 2016. Better to avoid problems if possible.

Hello sir,

I was hoping to ask you a question about importing mini Classic to USA. Everything is all set with the car but the Date on my V561 for the date first registered says 01/08/1991. I realize the car is not 25 years old until then.  (August 1st 2016)

My question is: Do they go by that date when importing it or do they go by the actually manufacturer date? if so how do i find that out? My Mini is  at VPC shipping. They are telling me they could ship it, but they may not accept it based on the first registration date. And once it leaves Country and on boat; No turning back. Then I would be out A LOT of money. I have options.   just trying to see if what he is stating is correct.?

I appreciate your time, if you can explain the process you went through when importing I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Michael

I don't know what part of the country your in but, there are plenty of Minis in the U.S..  It's car show season, hit the shows and ask tons of questions. You'll find one...I did.

I hope to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

If you're still determined to go ahead and buy a car in UK. Then the North East of England, Durham, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, is where the prices are most reasonable.
Have a look on Scottish Mini Forum as well. Be sure to click on the Activity Link.
i left a Yellow/ Black 1990 Mini 1000 with a friend in Orlando, to be sold. I ran it for 4 months over the winter until I came home last Wednesday. 100% USA legal as I brought it in from Osaka through JAX.
There are reasonably priced Minis out there, but it looks as though prices are on the rise again. Jim

Save yourself a lot of time and money, and forget about importing a Mini from the UK. You will find cheaper, better cars here in the US than what you'll find abroad. Add the craziness of importing since 911 and you'll soon understand. Check out the cars for sale page.

If I happen to buy a Mini from Europe. Do you have any place where to buy them?

But then again people do still import cars. It just means you have to be diligent.
Every used car I have purchased has had some hidden issues and I looked at the cars in person.

It will be that much more difficult to buy one from the UK or Europe and be assured of what you are getting.
And then the importation process has become more complicated. But it still can be done.

There are certainly more Minis is the US now than when BMC stopped importing them on January 1 1968.

Welcome!

translations:
tinworm = rust. Minis can look fine to most, yet be so rusty as to be barely road-worthy... or worse.

soar alba = Jimatalba's signature line and means "Free Scotland". His screen name, if you break it apart reads "Jim at Alba" (Jim at Scotland).

MMW = Mini Meet West. One of the annual Mini meets. See other threads here for details.

retagging = revin = applying vehicle identification tags from an older car to a newer one to falsify its identity. Generally illegal, an an unaware purchaser may run the risk of the car being seized and destroyed (crushed or ground up in little bits).
