Beautiful car but crappy listing.  You don't ask $77K £ and only include 4 pictures of the car (2 of them almost identical).

I'm not convinced it's a reshell - I've just compared rear view photos of my '64 S with my '85 (with a Mk1 conversion), and the angle in the advert is inconclusive to make a call on the rear window to me.

It does also look the same as the white car in the other photo.

That 1071 has a mk 2 reshell with mk1 tail lights. Look at the window size. Hopefully the seller has this foresight to disclose that info to the would be buyer.

Ps. A decent unrestored mk2 s should bring about 20k US over here.

Thanks Spitz.  That auction link is exactly the quality of restoration and car I was looking for to compare appraisal value against.

It will be interesting to see what the ebay MKI Cooper S goes for.  Looks like a very well sorted car but yeah, it's farther away from original than it looks.  It would be an excellent starting point but still lot's of money and/or time would be spent getting it back to full original if that is what the buyer wanted to do.

that is an interesting ad, for that "Cooper S", because there sure doesn't seem to be much of the original car left (different engine, interior, and exterior color), and the engine isn't even the original type which would have come with the car, plus it has a rod change (so it also lost the remote change it would have come with)

It does look very nice, and if the cosmetic appearance is any indication the restoration work was maybe also done well, but I wouldn't think of paying top "Cooper S" money for a car that had been so much modified recently.

However, my nitpicking aside, it does provide an indication for what those kinds of cars can be possibly sold for (let's see if they get their asking reserve price from someone, by Wednesday's auction deadline).

There are 0 bids today, with only 2 days left on the auction, though.

Here's a nice looking MkI asking price. Your MkII would be a few thou less, maybe $35K then sell it for $30K.

68MKII: If you have one to sell, it is worth anything you can get the buyer to pay, preferably at an auction with competition If you are buying, it is worth whatever you are willing to pay.

By the way, you should be able to decipher my screen name.

Hey guys.  What would a 1969 Austin MKII Cooper S Mini (LHD Canadian car), professionally restored by a premier restoration shop back to original condition as if it rolled off the assembly line with the exception of perhaps torque values on fasteners, preventative measures taken to prevent rust etc., so very close to concours, original engine, Heritage Certificate, brand new for all intents and purposes matching it's build sheet, be worth?  Appraised value?

I am just looking for educated guesses as I don't think too many exist on the planet to compare it to.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
