Hey John, I haven't seen any photos come through. Ron Jernigan found one in his stach that he is cleaning and powder coating for me.

These are two shifters at the shop. The chrome one is mine. It seems that the register slot is on the wrong side. 

Vespa are he ones you have for sale?

They put the curve in mid-61 it to avoid it hitting the new style heater.

1959 and early '60 cars had a heater with no movable flap (to direct the air up to the screen or down to your feet).   When the flap came along, the straight gear lever would hit it when going for 1st or 3rd.

Popping out of gear was a separate issue, mainly down to wear of the weak synchro system first used and the helix angle of the early gears.

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

The shifter I have is chrome and curved at the top rather than at the bottom.

It has yet to be installed in the car so I don't know how it performs.

i think i have both

the real early ones were just straight and would pop out of 1st gear if you didn't hold it ( 59 and 60 ) i think and then in 61 they put a curve in it to help with poping out of gear don't hold me to these dates, im sure someone will correct me
