I would've bet my paycheck Spitz was going to say that ! LOL

I own both Classic and the newer BINI type.  Whenever someone asks me about my Mini/MINI, I always begin by talking about my 1987 Classic Mini. (MINI for Spitz)

The newer one, while a nice daily driver, is just that.  A baby BMW and bears little resemblance to the classic cult car.   I like them OK, but I am not passionate about them.

My 87 I LOVE!
Mike so you have two modern Minis. That 87 is 21 years younger than mine.

Yeah. My motto is "When i grow up, I wanna be a curmudgeon." I'm just about there except my wife claims I act like a 7-year old.

Waxingturtle:
Some guys here just type grumpy. Most often when questions about new MINIs (aka "BINIs") that don't get immediate responses, it is (a) because nobody has had that problem before;
(b) there's nobody on (or awake enough) that knows anything about new MINIs;
(c) the question lacks details as in which year, model, features (Cooper S etc.); or
(d) sometimes we 'classic" types just can't comprehend why a car, named after a very basic and utilitarian economy car would have things like "comfort access" (or whatever it was called)... it confuses and bewilders us and we get cranky or can't resist poking fun. Our little cars were not particularly designed for "comfort".

I like the LWB Clubbies but am spending way more time & money building a MkI round nose Countryman.  Go figure?

And my son & I had a pair...same colour Liquid yellow.

No accounting for taste eh?

I kid of course.
Lot's on here have BINIs also, so may be able to answer questions.....also mania staff may respond.
I think you'll find that is spelled Mini...

MINI was BMWs attempt at differentiating the Bini from the Mini.

This forum is for both classic and BMW Minis. But the majority of the activity on this forum is for the classic. We typically let people know this so when they post about a BMW MINI and don't get a response they will know why. So if you're ok posting about your BMW MINI and not getting many, or any responses, feel free.  Or if you like to read about the classic Mini by all means stay!

As to some folks being rude about it; yes I have to agree. The anonymity of the internet I believe makes people more rude than they would be in person. The rest are just old and crotchety!

Most people well maybe more the majority of people on this board are classic Mini owners. Mini Mania sells parts for both so it may be one of the reasons it was set up and stays that way although there are a few Mini/Mini owners and Kent at MM that are informative and chime in on threads.
Try NAM Northamericanmotoring they are more geared towards MINI's

So, shall I find a different site to hang my MINI hat? I'm open to that, but was curious since there's three options, when posting, either, "all," or "Classic," or "MINI." (I always choose MINI)
You can see why I find it confusing when I'm told this site is for classic 'mini' and not for the new ones. One or two have even been rude about it. But most are friendly.
Thoughts?
