Spielberg was one of the executive producers. Robert Zemeckis directed it. (Who framed Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future, Romancing the Stone, Etc.)

im confused. The movie I'm thinking of had Kurt Russel in the lead role?

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

It's a little easier to just multimply by .62 to get miles, or 1.6 to get km....... division?yikes

Easy formula to work out Kilometres to Miles, is divide by 8, then multiply by 5... So 48k is bang on 30,000 miles.

Bill and Big Al....would I dare to call you Bandits? I'd wake up with a Skunk in my bed!!! Talking Stupic for life.

Lets just say that most Car Dealers, " have all their back teeth".

Remember back when I was a young guy of 25 going to a Car Auction in Burnley, and a 105 Anglia came through running on 3 cylinders. Clean looking wee car, so my pal bought it. Sparking on all 4 like a Flamethrower, so he did a Compression test. ZERO, on number 3. So he dropped the sump to investigate further, no piston or conrod attached to Crank. Now that was a wily dealers trick to get rid of a problem car.
As I said, Jap dealers will use whatever it takes to get rid of their Trade ins. Wouldn't surprise me if they backhand some of the guys who Grade the cars, to make them appear better than they are.

i brought one through JAX recently to use as a winter runabout before heading home. I had no problems with Customs or HS. Paid a local Broker to get it through the system, even though it's easy to do yourself.

If buying from Auctions, ( Iauc.co.jp) is the largest but be careful. Ultimately you are going on the Auction report of the Cars condition, and I have bought a few cars where the Reports are pure fiction.
Car Dealers worldwide are bandits, it comes with the territory, and Japan is no different.

Be sure to stay away from buying up North in Hokkaido, as they have SNOW and SALT the roads.

Regarding buying a 50,000 mile 998 Automatic, he's a braver man than me. It's been my experience that Japs DO NOT maintain their cars very well, and autos need oil and filter changes religiously on 2000 miles.

That is the point i was trying to get across. I dont get cars from auctions I get them from my brother who thoroughly inspects them and sends numerous amount of pictures to document. A lot of people are afraid to send several thousand dollars over seas. I offer being a states based contact point for importing. That is all i was trying to get across. I am not buying cars blindly. I stick to southern japan only as my brother lives in tokyo and stick to low mile cars. The most recent cars i have gotten was a 48k km car which is 26k miles. I also have a 52k 1977 mini which has documented trans rebuild with in 4000 miles and it shifts like butter.

Interesting maths - does that count as arithmetical clocking ?

Have a search and a Google on Minguy - he did a LOT of importing and self promotion, and ended up being handed his arse by the authorities for multiple transgressions.

I'm sure you won't follow the same path, but a lower profile and less aggression is much more successful if you wish to be in the business for a long time.
