Here in BC they require a period correct colour, but, having said that, I painted my ex's harvest gold MGB a beautiful Iris blue and they collector people had no issues. They didn't like my polished brass radiator and would not approve the application until I had painted it satin black...
i think if you don't have a wild custom with flames and tribal designs you would be ok...

The seventies were a time when they had some crazy colours for MINIs.  I have one that I thought was Lime Flower..but turns out not to be….Harvest Gold was another possibility but doesn't look right.

I have a Canadian 1976 mini (currently red) and I am thinking about getting a re spray over the winter and changing the colour. To get collector plates it needs to be a colour that was available on the year/model from factory. Sooooo, i'm looking for a list of codes and samples of the available options from that year. The list under the resource link on this site doesn't go up to 76. Cheers!
