I'm after the half with the bleed nipple if it's the opposite of what Mousy is wanting.

Can you give us a bit of history on the caliper?  Who made it?  Where purchased? etc.

if it was on the Mini when you got it, then ignore my question.

Jeff, mini owners are know for being cheap. Good to see you loosening the purse strings and doing the right thing.

Good on you.

Thanks all. I'll replace the caliper. No sense taking chances.

The crack is tiny. I'll try to get a photo. The only way I knew it was there was that I could see the fluid oozing out when my son applied pressure to the brake pedal. MM has aftermarket replacement calipers for $230

Any chance of posting a picture of the crack?
Calipers are easy to rebuild and upgrade to stainless steel pistons.
A good machine shop should be able to blast clean the caliper and magnaflux the crack. Best to tig weld it, if a replacement is available I'd take that option 1st.
Brakes and suspension are things never to compromise.

Last time I had the Mini out, we lost brakes - scary. We were close to home and limped home by going slow and using the parking brake. I found the problem today. All the brake fluid leaked out of a tiny crack in the front right caliper. I have 7.5" disks in front and drums in back. I have a couple of questions:

- If I replace the caliper, should I replace both? They aren't cheap... - The car didn't run for about 9 months - with the exception of the leaking caliper, it appears to have had fluid in all of the other brakes and when applying pressure, I don't see leaks on any other wheels. Can I assume the seals are OK, take care of this problem and give the car a few test drives to make sure the seals are OK before taking it too far? Brake lines are copper and brake hoses are braided stainless.

Thanks in advance to all, Jeff
