Multiple discussions with the final spec in writing with details so that there are questions about what is expected to be delivered.

My expectation is that someone like our source, who certainly also has a relationship with Autosparks, could also do just as good a job as being that intermediary for us. Its just that if doing something custom, I am personally inclined to go to someone who specializes in that only (in this case, wiring), leading to my vote for going through B'wiring in this case. +1 this is the place I go to for all my restoration cars be it mini, MG, Jag. As said they are all sourced from Autosparks in the UK but it's the knowledge of what you will need for your own car that's really helpful. this from a customer of over 20 years and as an aside this company continued to give the same excellent service after the original owners decided to retire and travel the USA in their RV.!!
Right - already have an email out to them now.  Sounds like I just need to have a discussion.

Most likely they all originate from AutoSparks in the UK.
British Wiring is the US distributor for their products.

If you have any additions to the harness, clear communication is extremely important.

The time has come with my current restoration to start fresh with a new wiring harness and the standard lot of vendors has confused me a bit with the loose descriptions - but ironically enough, they all have same part/SKU numbers for stock.  So I assume they all have them made at time of order at same place (i.e. British Wiring UK for example).  With that being said, can anyone help me hone in on the correct harness for what I am trying to do?  Please note that my Mini is within the 1976-1978 range, but may me looking to upgrade to Mk4 for my needs.

My Mini basics (from what I know should be used as identifiers for which harness):

* 1978-1982 RHD Austin Mini
* Current main wiring loom on car is wrapped in grey PVC electrical tape (if that matters), 4 terminal Lucas fuse box
* Was 998 but upgrading to 1275 (carb'd) engine,
* Planning to upgrade to pre-engaged starter (but can wire this separately if needed)
* Center speedo/clock,
* Standard 4 way fuse block,
* Non-servo brake system,
* No side markers,
* 2 speed wiper motor (new)
* Indicator stalk on right side of steering column, steering lock
* Reverse lights in rear tail lamps,
* Upgraded alternator (I believe a GM universal unit)
* Will not be using the OE Mk4 'brake check' switch, but not sure if that matters,
* No radio/speakers or rear defrost window/power planned

I plan to add front fog lamps and single rear fog lamp using OEM Mk3/4 switches with the rounded pins.  Would like to factor this into my choices if available, or I can wire separately.

Choices I have found so far:
