i think that the best way to prove you have a fast car is to prove you have a car in the first place. hahahaaa. You know what i am saying right? I know that there is someone on here who says he likes mini coopers but he doesnt even have a mini cooper in the begining. my mini cooper is fast and is it doesnt even have a honda civic motor in it. i will tell you all more about it sometime if someone else will prove their car. but he cant. trust me. i go fast

i wont name his name now because he knows who he is!!!

just imagine an 850cc mini getting a speeding ticket... What a perfect world !!!

I love the clubman fronts when done right, they look agressive.Few members on the 16v forum have them and they look great.Beyond great, there are some amazing cars on there with top notch work that most did theirselves.Very talented people...

Black one, blue one,and a white one stand out on there and they make me want a clubman someday. But i do have a thing for the little standard round nose and i wanted the challenge of doing a turbo on one WITHOUT cutting or modifying a stock grill, and even used sn MK1 grill at that.I now fitted my a2w intercooler under the hood as well.Task? Yes..tight? Yes...but its fitted :)

I love the way all of my Honda's reverse sounded.  I felt it had a distinct whine to it.  To each is own, just do what you would be happy with.  JerseyMini doesn't like mokes.  So what, I hate pontiac Aztecs and PT Cruisers.  Probably the same as most of you.

our race car on the limiter (8k rpm) is clocking at 100 db or so - yea its loud but its a race car.  I will run the quite mufflers but with the increased flow so it sounds like you describe - a quitter throaty 4 banger.  The turbo definitely quiets things down a bunch.  we did a test for a client on a chevy ls motor and was like 30db quieter with them than without.

Im sick of hearing about honda exhaust tones..

Ever hear a STOCK honda ? Yo can have your vtec swapped car sound tjat way if you want.Mine is quieter by far then most of the minis i Hear period.Mine has a deeper tone,i tried a few different things and honestly honda kids ask me why it souns he way it does and NOT loke a civic .They get upset when you say,"i want it to run like a civic but not have the horrible sound they generally have"

You can really change the sound of any car with a diff muffler style,a resonater,AND A TURBO.A turbo makes a car soo much quieter its crazy.

Me personally,i have no argument swapping to Vtec, but honestly I'm not into racing or hi decibel exhaust, I'm no teenager anymore, i want my mini to be able to travel across the USA with ease, i need a very reliable engine to do the task. i am actually thinking of buying a toyota Rav4, take the engine, wire harness,A/C, power steering and everything else and squeeze them in the mini body and make it work, i don't care if the wheels are sticking out, i can slap a thick wheel arches on them., i will put the engine in the back., i will take the power steering rack and put it in front, do some mounting and i need a long rubber tubing for the pressurized power steering fluid to run., the power steering pump remains attached to the engine,i won't re-locate it.  the Automatic clutch will need a longer cable to work., the steering column from the toyota will be used, may need to cut the bar a little to fit the limited space inside the driver area. the ECU is basically intact and just needed to be located in a secured dry area anywhere in the dash., now the power steering rack shaft may need to be cut short to fit the limited space in front. / Now the toyota front wheel now situated in the back of the mini needs to be welded permanently, because it used to be steering right? / the A/C shall be relocated, the condenser maybe located in the back as well together with the auxiliary fan etc. / dash board and controls are easy, just need to deal with mounting and wirings....i wonder why nobody hasn't thought about this??? imagine, An automatic toyota engine'd classic mini, with powerful A/C and power steering..Can't get better than that.
i already measured everything, and the toyota rav4 engine fits in the back of the mini easily.

if i happen to be a retired person, i can do a lot of inventions, seriously, i have lots in my mind, i can probably even win a Nobel Prize.,no joke!

There is a sub frame kit and GSR engine and LS trans for sale in Florida in the classifieds here. Jim is the seller and lives in the Orlando area.

Thanks.  the guys that make the swap parts (superfastminis.com) are only 2 hrs from me.  I will def be doing the conversion myself as i have full fab shop with multiple cnc machines if i need to whip out brackets or little trick parts.  Main reason I'm doing the swap is the car is an automatic and the torque converter is fried.  Was cheaper to do the swap than source the converter from england as i can't find one anywhere in the states.  That and 200 wheel hp is just too much to pass up in this car.  I race a miata in SCCA GT-Lite against many of the mini guys like fortec and huffaker and since this car is like an mid 80's model whats the harm in the swap. not like its some rare cooper S ex race car.  It will look all period correct except for the 13" wheels and the blur as i fly by.  I will PM you if i have any questions.  Ive settled on a b18 but finding one from a gsr or type r is like mining for diamonds down here.  Didn't want to extend this car to fit the k20 as its a near perfect rust free one.  And the rhd will be fun as it reminds me of one of my old prototype race cars where we shifted with left hand.

Damn, edit your post before the mini nazis chime in...

Actually you probably wont get much help because some probably already have their panties in a bunch and dont want to help due to your choice of doing a vtec swap lol

awesome people on here, very knowledgable group but a lot of the smarter guys will turn there backs to the vtec cars...even worse is the NEW mini guys...they get a good dose and it pushes them away.

If you decide to do it yourself and need to pick my brain some im easy enough to find here, you can even dig around and find my number i dont mind.Im not a pro ,but i built my car myself with a bucket of tools for the most part. And love it...if you decide and want opinions you can just put another post up or check out 16vminiclub.com

Also, everyone always says check the back plate of the boot latch/lock.
The month and year is stamped there as well as a hard to see spot on the windshield wiper motor.

There is no P on the shifter.  Reverse seems to be up top then N, 1, 2, 3, D as pulling towards the rear of the car.  Master cylinder also has a booster on it.  Ill post pics in the morning.  It has a grey interior, dash, and column.

I think 1984 was the last year for front drum brakes and somewhere around 1992 the automatic came with a "P" park position on the gear selector.

That could narrow it down a little.

So i have just purchased a Mini Mayfair.  Im trying to get an idea of the year (it was titled as an earlier one to get it here and reg'd).  From what i can see they made the mayfair from 82-96.  it has disc brakes and 12" wheels with chrome door handles and bumpers.  Grey interior.  Also is an automatic with 31,000 miles on it.  Im planning on doing a vtec conversion to it so need to know the year as so i can get the right parts for the conversion and also be able to sell off the drivetrain and any other bits i won't use.  Thanks!
