If my memory serves me correctly the engine would be black I think be this stage our engines were being imported from England . If you google 1978 mini moke and scroll down the page there is a pic of an engine bay .

Does anyone know what color they painted OZ Moke engines in the mid 70's? A friend is restoring an OZ Moke and asked me. I'm not that familiar with big wheel Mokes so didn't know the answer.

It was black, but calling it paint has always been a bit of a stretch.

It seems from my research, mid 70's Mini 1000 engines were painted black from the factory. Is this true? I want to paint my engine close to original spec, but black seems boring. Any recommendations? Opinions?
