Do I need the radiator cowling to finder?

You'll find it very hard to install the one piece fan shroud if you have the radiator cowl. There would be no room to put the fan on then radiator and shroud.

None of the later models did, with the better radiators that were developed they probably just dropped it from production. Unless you are running hot i would not bother with one, you will thank yourself when it is time to remove the radiator at a later date. If you feel like you need one make a cheap alternative up first to see if it does make a difference.

My 82 mini does not have the shroud or cowling to the left finder (see part below). My previous mini did. I would think the cowling should help to prevent hot air recirculation and improve cooling? Does anyone have any experience with this?
