You said you liked the large thin wheel in the '60s Mini but have issues with a smaller one. Maybe the big wheel Mini didn't have the steering column lowered and yours does? If so, raise your column back to stock. Or maybe the 60's Mini had a magic wand shift?

I already have the seat extensions.  That was the first thing I bought after I got the car.  I drove a '60s Mini with a very large thin steering wheel and I liked it.  However, I wanted a wooden one.  You may have noticed the poll that I set up.  It turned out to be very even between 13", 14" and 15".  I went with the 14" and love it.  It's just a little tight.  I'll keep looking.  I was hoping to have a separate one bent, so I don't end up screwing up the one I have and then can't drive the car.
I'm surprised these are not readily available.

Many years ago, I had an 850-magic wand that got swapped out for a 1100 remote shift lump. Out of curiosity, i stuck the magic wand stick into the remote housing. It seemed to work shifting gears OK, but was ridiculously long. (see Ed Roth "Rat Fink"). Maybe somebody with a spare magic wand and remote shifter can check it out and sell you the stick to bend and cut down. It shouldn't take much heat to bend it the way you want.

I have a stick I bent and shortened for my first mini in 68. A sweet 850 with a 1100 cover and remote shifter. It has been every remote I have owned. I have tried to make another but no luck. Steve (CTR)

How about moving the seat back a little, instead? See BG5001

I'm looking for a gear shifter for my '87 Austin Mini, and strangely I'm not finding much.  I installed a 14" steering wheel and it's difficult to get past my knee and into 1st gear, mostly because I'm 6'-2".  I'm looking for a new gear shifter that is either "Z" bent with an offset or even straight that I can have bent.  Does anyone know where I might be able to find something like this?  Do I need to go with the quick shifter?  It's the only thing I can find.  I've looked at the following sites.
