Put that cup and those sunglasses on the bonnet of your car and take another photograph.

Dan ... The Uni Syn being used in the video is a tried and true device used to monitor the amount of air being sucked into each carb with the intent being to balance the two carbs at idle. It is an extremely simple and easy to use device. Mine is over four decades old and it still operates the way it did the day I took it out of the  box. Look it up on the web and you will see close up photos and a more detailed explanation on how it works.

Hi guys,, i need some serious advice, since the mini is known to be good in gas, i am planning to make my 998 mini a daily driver starting this fall, my question is, is a well maintained 998 mini be able to do a like 30miles roundtrip daily? Except weekends. I work 15 miles away from my house. Can it withstand about 15miles continuous 55mph?

One of my friends is doing the Mongol this year in a Nissan Micra.

They stopped to help an ailing Maestro, so I ended up advising on a Redneck Repair via text message from home to somewhere in Kazakhstan !

Gotta love modern technology.

ZERO ( For forum members playing along ), he's never apologized.
Let's move on, let it fall off the page where it belongs.

Alex: nice to know the 'mentor' I referred to is actually so knowledgeable. I could see he was teaching the young 'uns. Please be assured my remarks were not intended to slight his knowledge in the least. Even his use of flow-measuring device showed a very experienced hand - in his hands it obviously did what he wanted to at the time. To me it looked like he wasn't trying to get an accurate flow measurement, but to get a feeling on how well each carb was drawing at that point. I'd be interested to know what the device is and how it actually works.

.

It's not an instructional video (and there are a few shockers floating about), it's just a nice home movie about a few blokes getting a car running.

What nobody has spotted yet (I can't watch YouTube at work and this is the first time I've watched the clip) is that one of the guys is one of THE EXPERTS and I really do mean an utter AUTHORITY in the Mini community worldwide.

He's forgotten more than most of us will ever know.

Modesty on his behalf precludes me from naming the chap in the black overalls, but he is a long-time friend and kinda responsible for me marrying Suzy.

I am not a troll , you will see that my posting is just like everyone else in here so just answer my questions and leave me alone and i will leave you alone too,. I do no that there are people that can have my IP numbers and I will let Jemal post my IP numbers as long as he leaves out my phone numbers from them and the lisense plate numbers on my special mini. That will make the bulleys shut up!

I personally believe that I f there was  enough spark to allow the engine to run at 2000rpm, the issue was  more likely carb / fuel / vacuum related. Don't need a timing light to see this.

Do you own a scooter?

i can't believe you said that turbodave, that the timing light is not needed and moreso useless? i beg to disagree because few months back, i remember a prominent person here told me to invest on a timing light in order for me to attain proper engine timing. i remember vividly, the word he used is "invest" . And now that same person agrees with you that timing light is not needed? he even wrote +1 to your post..... i dunno who to believe now.
