I still don't understand the reluctance to delete the troll every time he pops up, like was done to Bill for over a decade.

We all need to just move on, studiously ignore troll behaviour, resist temptation, correct erroneous information posing as fact.
Oh yeah... banning BIG AL would be like banning Santa.

i think most any forums have moderated sign ups, such as the 16v Mini who's kicked out one of the MiniMania posters.

you're telling me that specialist is robster?
All joking aside. I just opened my account at RM:

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

Condemns those who insult others as he actively insults the majority. Mocks those who express concern of the demise of a once great forum as he watches it burn and throws gasoline on the fire. Calls people dumb for having strong opinions when in the same thread he references he touts that his opinion (wrong as can be factually) is actually better than theirs. Then accuses people of calling him Hitler just so he can feel like a victim.
Poor you, Jemal. Since you love that you're so accessible, why don't you post your address so I know where to send the Midol.
Just because I blame you for the majority of the issues here doesn't, in fact, mean I think you're important in any way.

No worries Jim. your jacket is safe! I know very well that your sense of humor is fully intact! But, I don't foresee the litigation getting to the point that even lawyers could do much with opinion on the internet! I mean as we all know, if you read it on the internet, it must be true! Just today I saw a quote from Trump, allegedly from People Magazine back in 98, talking about how easy it would be to run as a Republican, because they are by far the dumbest group of voters in the country, easily convinced to vote against their own interests! That sounds like a true quote, doesn't it? It must be... it was on the internet!

Oh, as for finding IP addresses? I can't think of a single thing less important in life than "tracking down" some of you evil trolls posting false or idiotic information about how to fix old cars! Damn I have to go.... I have a hangnail on my second smallest toe of my left foot. Makes it annoying to shift the Moke....

If this is truly a Democratic forum, then lets have a Vote on whether this Clown should be banned permanently. I'd rather have Cup Cake on here than this abomination. Jim
Considering what a Litigation Society America is, wouldn't it be ironic if this Tube caused some Newbie to repair his Mini in such a way that it caused an accident out on a Freeway. Hmmm...I can just see the Lawyers lining up to apportion blame, after the cause is established to come from info gleaned from "Expert" on MM forum. Especially as the Forum administrators knew of this wrong info being given out beforehand, and did nothing to head off the potential fallout.
I'll get my jacket now. Jim

Oh, and DO NOT POST your IP address anywhere. For anyone as paranoid as you, that would be absolute suicide, and still a really bad idea for anyone else. (I imagine you'd probably get it wrong anyway.)

If the suggestion for the general forum population is to "let it go,"then I would suggest you do the same.
An address is how things are located whether it is a street address or an internet protocol address.
Very basically,
IP Addresses are assigned by (or through) your Internet Service Provider. it is the address the millions of internet servers and routers use to get messages to your home or work - as tmsmith suggests. That gets it TO your modem, not your router. Your modem passes data to your router (which may be in the same unit). Your router then assigns addresses to all the devices you have that it is connected to - your computer, your tablet, your cell phone's data access, your smart TV, your printers. Since routers assign addresses and are all pretty much the same functionally, and have to abide by protocols for addresses, they all pretty much start with the address "192.168.1.1" b(or something similar). So if you've installed just one computer on your router, chances are it has that address, unless you did something specific to select an address. But don't panic - that's the address only within your local area network (LAN), and nobody can see it if you have a firewall up. You can even unplug from the internet, and your LAN will continue to function between your devices.
