Wow that takes me back. I am sitting on the yellow Moke side pod grey short and sunglasses and my son is sitting on the front fender.  that was a long trip from Victoria to MMW2014.. it was the first trip for my 1976 VTEC conversion, Tahiti Blue Perl with a yellow roof.  That was a great trip and a fun meet!

What l remember from that show is that l sold a 1969 mini automatic in mint shape to a buyer in Columbus IN,It was an original car and It had been in storage in Edmonton Alberta for years, in fact Marcel Chickham (SP ?) helped me source it-

So the buyer (Ralph Jewell) a mini owner and a retired lawyer wanted me to deliver it after the show, no problem, l threw it on my small trailer and drove south to Columbus dropped off the mini and headed north, l met up with Johnny (Captin JJ) at a pre-determined truck stop in Michigan, he was pissed because it took me 6 hours to get back to him-Where else would you want to hang out ? a truck stop with TV 's, food and a wash room- Oh yes, it had a small stone chip in the windshield and if l didn't fix it. it would be a deal breaker, no problem, purchased one from a vendor at the show,(who will remain nameless), of course he didn't have one at the show, and none back home so he sourced it out of the UK, when it finally arrived in Columbus IN, it cost me $643,00 US, BUMMER, but you gotta do what you gotta do, Right ?

I'm in the back row, 4th from the right. That was the last Mini Meet that I attended. I got REALLY bored siting in the parking lot all day, although the track time was fun. The drive home to Missouri was in a huge rainstorm and the water got in the distributor, so I was stuck at a truck stop in IL for a couple of hours drying everything out.

Dude, you don't remember me driving your car to the beer shop in 2006 despite leaving a comment to that effect on some eBay feedback !

Is your email address the same as your profile ?

If not, text it to me.

Alex, I don't even remember that pic being taken, but I'm clearly there lol.
Email me the original pls.
Cheers,

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

Thanks Alex for reminding us what is important about these cars-the people you meet!  Lots of old (and now older) friends are in those photos and some are no longer with us but I will never forget them.  Eric

Great pictures Alex.

I see a lot of old friends in both, and some like Charlie Pollet that are missed.

Thanks for the memories Alex, Rockford IL

That's me in front of the side window of the BIG BMC wearing the UK cap-

The restoration of the BMC was my finest moment, it was pretty sad when l found it, actually it found me, the PO who had it for 27 years used to camp along the Lake in a park a mile east of me-he would stop and check out my 1949 COE Austin K-8 diesel lorry, the Mini Mover-

In the meantime l found its' sister the beige coloured unit 10 miles from my home,so not wanting to wait to get the other one , l purchased the beige one (an exact copy) but did nothing with it-So l sold it in the UK to Mark Nolan and arranged to ship it over to the UK-after several years it was restored although l have never seen pics of it- When the owner of the original unit put it up for sale, l was there, bought it drove it home spent 6 months re-doing it and had several happy years of ownership-sadly l sold it to a buyer from TX,who then sold it in California. It now resides with Wayne Carini in CT (Chasing Classic Cars)- I always did an open house at mini events to share the retro early sixties orange shag carpet and orange plaid accessories-Just timeless IMHO- I should also mention that Captin J J my good friend and driver who did such a great job passed away 9 years ago this month (Continue to R I P Johny)

Back at East Meets West in 2004, I organised a group photo of all the Mini Mania message board members after the panoramic photo had been taken.

We assembled in front of Big Al's BMC motorhome, and messed around while many people took photos.  Not everyone is in this photo, as there was a decent amount of milling about going on, and swapping from in front of the lens and behind the lens.
