Buy a couple of boxes of binder clips from an office supply place so you can keep the headliner secured while the glue sets up.

If it is a MK III> you need to install the headliner first as it wraps around the window apertures. I then work down from the rear first to the front. Paul is correct it does help to have the seats in (temporary) or at least milk crates to sit on when doing the headliner.

Rear corners need to go in before glass as it lips around the window channel. If you do the liner with the seats in it makes it easier for me at least as you've somewhere to park your bum while pushing the two halves together.

I've got a question for anyone who has redone an interior.  I've got the sound/heat shields in, I've got carpet in, I've got the rear seat in, all of this is pretty straightforward.  The dash and heater is next.  Then I'm not too clear on the best approach.  I know I can do the doors and their windows whenever.  I know the front seats are going to be the last thing to go in.  But should you put the roof liner in before you do the front and rear windows or the backseat windows?   Or doesn't it matter?
Thanks,
Dan
