 Poll:  Total votes: 33
Simple question as I have been collecting many parts for my 1071 and it's been quite bit overwhelming. Several years ago I was approached by a member of this forum to build my power unit. Saddened it never happened so I commenced to collect my parts 300 miles away. Well didn't think but people as they can be he used my collection and purchases to support other endeavors . So here it is a poll.
Get on with life
Expose him to other mini enthusiast
Sleep it off and forget the 1500
Legal action
Replace and be happy he gave back some of it.

I did it, I will not respond to this again. I have learned a six week engine and tranny rebuild is much less problematic than a six year trip though hell. Steve (CTR)

He has been given every opportunity to make good. I have. Nothing to hide. When I get off work today I will gladly tell the whole story if it interest anyone. Months have past since I got my parts back so closure is all I need. Just for the statistics 80% say reveal the crook.

The plot thickens !

Two sides to every story and all that, and having been contacted off the board with a smidge more info, there is certainly more going on behind the screen than has been typed by one half of the dispute...

As I said in a previous post - you need to exhaust all reasonable avenues before going public.

If that suggestion,(breaking in and taking your parts back), was in response to my post, that was not what I was suggesting at all; that is obviously not very feasible and not very smart either.

To answer your poll correctly you really need to know the full story hopefully from both sides. You stated the build never happened but did not elaborate was it due to your or his decision ? There may be a lot of mitigating circumstances here which without hearing the whole story it is hard to make a judgement.
Good luck with getting your parts back/replaced or compensation.

In the first place, I would never store my parts at a remote business location like that.....that's just asking for trouble. But if that is truly what happened, with no mitigating circumstances (charges for storeage, etc), and he refuses, with no good reason, to make it right, I would go there and take it out of his hide or business, or both, (but anonymously); you never completely recover your losses going through "proper channels", and seldom get any compensation at all for your efforts. Be sure to consider that he probably has considerable, uncompensated time of his own invested in dealing with you and storing your parts. My 2 cents.

You can't be legally penalized because you are only mentioning his username, not the real name.    He must suffer the consequences, not to be vindictive but i agree with sir Alex ,to expose the culprit.
To avoid repeated incident.   Some people here might be using stolen parts because of that guy., and might cause accidents, because its a jinx if you have stolen parts installed in your car.  That's our beliefs in asia.

A 300 mile drive is no joke to recover some - but not all - of your stuff.  I would have been one pissed off guy on that drive home.
If you shared your list of missing parts with him, how would he respond?  Would he be amenable to shipping you other valuable parts instead, so you might sell off his parts in order to replace (our at least take the sting out of) those missing?

If his position is "It sucks to be you!"  or anything short of accepting responsibility, then I vote outing him.

Assuming that you've gone through all reasonable avenues to recover your (now stolen) parts, the best recourse is to name and shame.

There are enough people here that some of us may have inadvertantly bought your things...

Wow, we spoke on the phone some time ago about this, I had no idea it hadn't been resolved.

Tough one Scott.

Rather surprised as a respected and senior forum member he wouldn't try to make things right.

Good luck Scott.

I feel sorry for what happened sir, the very first thiing you should do is to expose  his identity to other members so that the scam will not happen again, he thinks he can do scams like that and just get away with it?? No way!  Its payback time.  But i think i have an idea who he is.. after you expose him, i dont think a legal action is necessary. He will learn his lesson the hard way.  All of us here are curious who that guy is, so please tell us his identity.

ps: a respected and a senior member?? Hmmmm i wonder who that guy is??  Is he from CA? Or US?

you can add me to the vote but I think you should do 2 things.

One:  let us know who took you for a ride. (stole your parts and broke your trust and the trust of all mini owners)

Two:  start legal action.  ( hope you have some paper work agreement and can account for the missing parts)

We all can benefit by your misfortune but NOT using the shop or individual who took advantage of you.

Good luck with your decision.
