i think fmix makes a lot of sense,  i like this guy, very practical. a donor car is indeed the best option, you get the complete engine plus the all the wire harness.  Which donor car are we looking for btw?  honda civic hatchback?

ps: the Wolf needs to start selling vtec engines, lol

You are probably looking around $10000 to $15000 for the parts to do the conversion, plus however much a shop will charge to install and paint as neccessary. To save money, I would suggest finding a donor car that has the motor you are interested in. That way you can sell off parts of the car and recoup some money, especially if it has aftermarket parts on it that people would be interested in.

I would love to do a Honda swap and am thinking about doing a K swap. I would buy the most complete kit minus motor and trans that they make then I would find a donor RSX to get the motor and trans for cheap. I think the ultimate kits on here are the complete kits minus motor and trans.

P.S. Vtech is for phones

JM,, if you are really willing to help, pls post on this thread the dimensions and measurements of the vtec conversion kit you used and the place or website where you bought your Vtec D series engine. And also what size pipe did you use.. And pictures of your engine bay showing where you bolted the motor mount etc. and wiring diagram. And also explain why you did not install the A/C that  came with the vtec motor? Is it because its called in new jersey and you dont need a/c?
And , can i put the Vtec engine in the back? For a change.

thank you

Give a call to Tyler at //www.gildredracing.com/. He's in the Santa Barbara area. The did my Clubman Vtec D series. They do a complete restoration or a la carte, depending on your budget. Straight forward honest guys. Love that place!

Motors are pretty cheap nowadays (B and D series). If you decide to do it yourself and ever need help or have questions im here or email me @ [email protected]

I did mine all myself so cant speak of prices they charge,i found a car with a lot of aftermarket parts and sold then off and made money and kept the motor for freeeee.

The LS trans for the B series isnt too bad of a gear ratio from what everyone says.I chose a D series because of space reasons, wanting a standard nose with mk1 grill, and wanting a turbo to fit under it all nicely. Also you can nake more power with the turbo D then a N/a B series easier. The trans i chose was a factory trans and a 3.72 final drive.Perfect for highway with my 10s

<<<<Not an answer!!!!>>>>  I am going to jump on first hoping to stem the critics.  DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!  I believe there are going to be 3 camps.  Those who have done them and are happy.  Those that have done them and are not happy.  And those that question why you are doing something soo sacrificial. You can buy everything from our hosts to build a complete car.  They are the mister/misses potato head of cars!  Hence a little nutcase over in england at Bad Obsession Motorsports with project Binky.  I think anyone doing anything to any mini and derivatives to make their own personal experience joyful is awesome.  (We are all nutcases by the way.  Until we sit in the passing lane not passing then you/we/I are a$$h01es.)

Just curious as to what people are currently paying for the base conversion including the motor.  I am not interested in a/c and I would like to use a B16 motor.

Thanks

I was okay until I drove a Mini.
