Not Sure about the fuse block, first time i heard that it had a date stamp. I know on the bottom of the transmission case on my 66 Cooper S has a date stamp. Matching numbers means the VIN , the engine numbers and body number correspond with a Heritage Certificate, which means all the parts are original to each other when the mini was built.

What are the other 2? I'm a stickler for originality as well.

Just a heads-up. I think partly influenced by the Bring a Trailer auction results, a number of genuine Mk1 and Mk2 Cooper S's (with Heritage Certificates, some with triple matching numbers) have been offered to me lately; several will be on my website shortly. Feel free to contact me directly in the mean time for a sneak peek, since for many of the Minis I'm offered, I find new homes for them even before they make it on the website!

And yet another shameless plug:

NEW SERVICE TO BUYERS: Please contact us about our "Buyer's Agent" services, particularly for classic Minis not listed on our site. We provide consulting, evaluation and advice  - and there's no such thing as a stupid question! We also teach you HOW to search and WHERE to search so you'll be able to come up with more possibles on your own. We can also handle price negotiation, assist with pre-purchase evaluations and with more-secure funds and title transfers, and arrange door-to-door transport to have your Mini delivered safely to your door. Please call for more information.

wow, very nice..if i ever own that mini, i will never never upgrade it or anything, i'd maintain it that way. i'd like to preserve the history and the smell of the interior. And i will store it inside a Bubble car cover(google it) to maintain the temperature and %humidity inside. And i will never let anyone touch it,because sweat can deteriorate the quality of the paint.

very nice, i like it.

This week's unrestored, original '65 Austin S auction ends at: Tues., Oct. 25 at 1:40 pm (PST)

//bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-mini-cooper-s/

There is a "remind me" link that will text you a reminder text 15 minutes before the auction ends.

I suspect history will again be made... and yet another S will cross the pond to the land of its birth.

Here's the link for the unrestored, original '67 Austin Cooper 1275 S that sold on Bring a Trailer for $55k in May. (and it had a frozen motor!)

//bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-austin-cooper-s/

Part of what explains the crazy money is that Bring a Trailer's 7-day auctions have a feature that all but eliminates the sniping that happens in auctions such as eBay. BaT auctions have (scheduled) end times, but it's not over until there haven't been bids for a full 3 minutes. If another bid comes in, it re-sets the clock another 3 minutes.

In the overtime is where it gets exciting.

The auction was scheduled to end at 1:30p. High bid at that time was at 1:28p was $35k - and folks were astounded it would bring that much.

But it wasn't over yet.

The eventual winner ("dirtyrat" from the UK, as it turned out) had that high bid at $35k - but three other bidders weren't ready to let it go and started duking it out.

At 1:37, dirtyrat's bids had reached $55k.

At 1:38, the 2nd highest bidder (jona.fr) tapped out - and let the clock run out.

At 1:40p, dirtyrat won the auction. Between his 1:28p bid and his final 1:38p, he decided it was worth an extra $20k USD to own it! (never mind the poor exchange rate and the import expenses.)

And now:

For this week's auction, "dirtyrat" is already in on the bidding too. No sign of "jona.fr" yet, but there are still 4 days to go.

Popcorn anyone?

The sound of that car needs to be recorded for posterity. I hope one day my '66 will sound as wonderful.

Ron....hhmmmm..

It seems like it is going for "stupic" money because it is unmolested hopefully truly numbers matching.  From what I recall all the American pigs that gets insane dollars are numbers matching.  We aren't talking vintage Ferrari California numbers either.  Deep pockets and a love for all cars is all it takes.  Again IMO.  I hope no one else missed "VC."

A white original S non runner (seized engine) with storage dents sold on BAT recently for $55k.
