Apart from the fasteners, the AA remote fits identically to the same minis that use the mini remote.
The rear bracket can be purchased and fitted to a magic wand car, and the tunnel may be cut.
Original AA rear mount rubbers are different and the mini one must be used, with the correct holes drilled and tapped for figment.
I have no idea how it fits on a rod change car, because, ew; who would do that.
The AA remote does not offer the engine mounting stability that the mini item does, so in a powerful mini the sandwich mount will have a short life. I think our host offers a solid version.

That's great info - thanks! Now for the next question, does the AA shifter fit the Mini body OK, or are mods involved?

I think we are all good. Just a bunch of old guys pissing in each other's shoe. Looks like I'll need to switch to yellow socks for awhile. Anyone who knows Bob Johns (and he has been a die hard mini guy forever) and lost touch contact me and I'll get you his number. He still likes to fuss about about everything. One of the truly great guys. Steve (CTR)

Now now fellas. I feel honored to have zip mentioned in one of my topics but thanks to all for the great explanations - it's raining here so when there is a break, I'll go check the shed.

Sorry Mur, I thought 4 plus 4 was 8. If you have time to pick my posts apart may I suggest you ring Bob Johns up. He and I speak weekly and he really misses his tools and projects. If Zip was still with us I'd have had a pic posted. Regards Steve (CTR)

Good try Steve. With a bit of work, like proof reading and stuff you could provide a complete answer, or do you really only put half the bolts in?

Mini remote held in place by four 3/8 course bolts two short two long which come straight up from below the diff housing. AA held in place by four 5/16 course shoulder bolts which come in from the sides though a metalastic mount and four more bolts from the side attaching the mount to the diff housing. Steve (CTR)

if you look at the end that bolts up to the engine, it is quite easy to tell. The mini remotes have the bolt holes in a vertical(ish) plane. The ADO16, uses a metal/rubber sandwich plate and the bolts go in on a horizontal plane. The ADO 16 housings are slightly bigger at that end as well.

Just noticed on a very recent post that someone mentioned that there is a difference between Mini & AAmerica Remote Shifter - can anyone point me in a direction that has a few pictures? Was cleaning up my shed and found a couple of housings, would like to know the difference in case someone needs one... I have a remote trans & would also like to keep the correct one.
Is the a difference between the housings or just the shifter?
