I have the tooth count for my JKD standing start set some place. I will look for them and post here. Are you looking for wider spaced ratios or a better first gear choice?

1st gear 31, 2nd gear 27, 3rd gear 24, 4th gear 22.
lay shaft
14, 18, 21, 23
see what you can figure from that info. Steve (CTR)

Edit: For the record Andy Nelson ( Toy Box Racing ) contacted Nick about the JKD issues. The vintage board was where we heard about it and the group putting up for the first 10 which was more like 20 sets by the time it came together stepped up. I was pleased to be allowed to be a part of that. At the time I had vintage racing customers and a real need for a gear set or two. Dates slip my mind but 05/06 seems about right. I know when Nick came over and won the Gold Cup in our car #12 it had a Swift set and a 3.7 CWP.

Edit 2: The Gold cup was 08

Thanks Steve,

Wow that was a while ago then, I thought you might have been involved, ah so it was the opposite of what I remembered, close ratio rather than wide.

I was looking at going to a Dog kit for a turbo K head motor, bit dont really want to go higher than a 2.5:1 1st gear, the dog kits all seem to be around 2.3:1.

That was several generations ago maybe 10 years ago and the group buy was made up of a group of vintage racers who went together and bought several sets each. I received four sets myself. They were all ultra close ratio rolling start sets. They were supplied with shift forks for rod change or remote. Depending on CWP first was good for 70 mph. There was a later generation that offered standing start ratios. The last time I spoke with Nick he did not have all ratio options in stock. In fairness that was a couple of years back.

I still have on hand one NOS Swift rolling start gear  set complete, also have a JKD standing start multi spline involute dog set NOS complete as well. While not a Swift set it was the last generation of JKD that were useful. The next generation of JKD was made by a later owner and were 7 spline dog boxes and would not last a vintage weekend. We wrecked one, got a replacement set and it was no better and they stopped dealing with us when we ask about that one.

As mush as I'd like to get back to vintage racing I have a son going to college in a couple of years. I thought racing was a expensive but college will be a big nut to crack. I also have some semi SC and true SC posi CWPs and new Tranex posi. If you need something tranny or more info my contact info is in my profile. Steve (CTR)
