Glad I've got it sorted out. We've never had a camera matched colour come even close to correct. For reference for anyone else, my cross was Citroen 79-90 Bleu Fjord, code 462F I've had it mixed in both Sikkens and BASF / RM with blendable success.

Thanks to all.  I had 3 quarts made up of Sikkens.  I am going to shoot it next week.  From all of the surf blue Minis that I have seen, it is in the range of the color variations.  I like it  a lot as well.  The Sikkens color match cam up substantially darker with a 463D3.  I shot a panel and did not like the darker blue.  I choose a 463B3 lighter blue by a few shades without as much black in it.  I do have the formula for it now.  Thanks again!

If you're interested. I have an original Surf Blue project car in the shed. If you paint a cardboard sample and mail it my way I can do a comparison.

I found a close match Sikkens 463B3.  I love the color and I have already shot several panels.

I'll check when I get work tomorrow. I have the formula for Glasurit Uno single stage. Surf Blue crosses to a Citroen colour iirc, regardless it was a dead match to my original Surf blue, blended very well in the interior. Cheers Rob

Therein lies my problem.  I don't have anything that is surf blue. I have no samples just color charts from the internet and cars in surf blue.  I did get a lighter pint of paint made up yesterday.  We will see if it looks ok.  180 miles round trip to the paint store is getting old.

There are a couple places around here that can scan your car color and mix/paint it for either touch up or fresh new coat. The system will figure out the formula. If your Mini has good paint in some places, you could try that route. The places I know of around here usually deal with expensive exotics. So it will cost more, but should match very well.

Fellow Minioids,  Well,....it turns out the formula for Surf Blue was off.  I got a pint of it and sprayed it but it is too dark and too blue.  Still looking for the correct formula.  Anybody know what the formula is?

OK, I got the formula and had some paint made up.  It is a Sikkens single stage polyurethane.  I know that the paint formulas have changed over the years and hardly anyone shoots single stage now as everything is base clear.  The paint is very reasonable at $120 for 3 quarts, then you need a catalyst for it, primer with catalyst, reducer etc etc.  So, around $400 for everything. plus lots of extra primer for another car.

The auto paint establishments said that they do not have the formula in enamel or any variations thereof.  Only base/clear.  It would be great to get a formula for it or another color that matches.

british motor corp called it   BU-35 surf blue     did you have them look it up under that?  i know the body place i buy paint has the code books going back year by year and manufacturer to the 50's.  when i painted my iris blue mga i went in and looked it up and had them make it in a conventional enamel and i did not clear coat it,  just color sanded and buffed it.

Fellow Minioids,  I am repainting my 1967 Mini.  I need the formula or cross reference for Surf Blue, Ditzler 12628, Dupont 96230.  The three local auto paint places said they cannot make it unless is is base/clear.  I want a single stage urethane/enamel.  Any formulas in urethane/enamel would be great.
