TK.. yea  I know..  no such thing as LINE person on the phone line to chat with in person.. same here , I was going to have to pay the $350 shipping and wait at LEAST 21 days to get paid for both the engine and shipping. NO way I am going to ship ANYTHING unless I am paid in FULL upfront..  later bc

I just sold two items, one $30 and the other $230. Paypal advised that I'll have to wait 21 days too. I have about 10 items at Ebay auction.

I wonder how sellers can afford to pay for shipping without any dollars coming in?

Ebay take fees, Paypal take fees and I don't get paid for three weeks? It's a scam.

I can't even speak with anyone from Paypal.

Bill we do bikes all the time, I just looked through my Paypal history and have at least 10 sales in 2017 over $500, it may be because we use it a bunch and have it set up as a commercial account. As I said before I like we get the money but Paypal has their hand way down deep in the pocket where I keep my beer drinking money.

We use Paypal all the time. With the exception of the excessive fees we've never been had with it. I just sold a steering wheel for $60 they banged me for $2.04 by the time I paid for freight I cleared a cool $37.55 on a $60 sale, thankfully I wasn't trying to make money on it. If you play their game Paypal is pretty safe, most people that get burned didn't read their rules and agreed to something that was pretty sketchy to start with.

I sold a bike part to a gentleman in Australia, paypal would not fund the payment until two weeks after he received the part. I nixed the deal. He still wanted it, so he took a chance and sent it as a "gift", which afforded him no protection. Of course he got the part and was happy with it. I hope I never have to deal with paypal again. There is no way I will ship something until it is paid for.

While that is great for the average honest person, there are a large number of unscrupulous types who take advantage of the instant no-quibble refund and rip-off sellers as a living...

Few different new things with PayPal

First if the person is new to selling and using PayPal it can be weeks before money is paid to them

Then there is some sales where PayPal holds the money for two weeks before sending it on

I hate it as when I reconcile my PayPal outgoings the dates make no sense

Exactly what they are doing is fighting fraud. If they hold payment and you don't get your item and complain they just give you your money back and don't have to claw it back from the seller.

to the floor.. I have only used paypal to buy small items from the UK.. use will NOT use them to sell anything again.. .. EVER..   I had sold old MGB for $3k a couple years ago. the buyer a COP in cleveland ohio STOPPED payment on the $3k. even after his nephew came and drove in person for a HOUR..   said it leaked oil.. ( imagine that ??..and wanted to keep the MGB for FREE.. ) I had him ARRESTED.  for THEFT by taking  a FELONY.. and he lost his job..  seemed he had done this TWICE in the past..  when you get OLD you forget about things like PAY PAL.. problems.. bc

I don't know what their problem is (look for paypal on google, lots of negatives) I just sold 2 items for $1600 and $1000 in the last month...I don't know about taking the money out I just transfered it to my bank. And I can think of one time I got +/- $9000 same deal I transfered it to my bank before PP said it was an "unusal transfer" but I had already taken the money out (that day). And they put a hold on my Paypal account with $100. They started asking about where I got the watches and when I told them ebay/paypal they shut there faces but it showed me they keep their transactions for a long long time. I usually send it through my bank in Denver and don't keep any money there.

Sometimes it depends on how the payment is being funded - card and bank payments are pretty much instant, other methods not so speedy.
There also used to be a limit on how fast you could withdraw the money if it was a decent amount - we got caught with that years ago with a large payment for tyres taking a couple of months to get out.  If you leave it in the PayPal account and spend it from there I don't think it's a problem.

It sounds like an excuse the banks make concerning inter-bank or inter-state cheques.... they have to "clear". $250 is probably Paypal's threshold of the amount they can cover if the deal turns sour.
