Second on that. I'd like to see some photos as well. My South African Mini has the brass expansion tank as well. I can send you a photo of how it is mounted and where. Check your parts bin for two pairs of small, round 1 3/4? inch reflectors. Or they could be rectangular.  White ones mount under the headlamps and red ones on or near the tail lights. Your body might have holes where they mount. The reflectors are super scarce and unique to South Africa... local regulations.

For me, mini works fine with or wiithout expansion tanks , why add expansion tanks and add more weight. (??). Maybe its just a looks thing., it's brass and you can buff it to make it shiny

The answer is to mount it wherever you can as space is hard to find under the hood but mount it as close to the radiator as possible, late model Rover SPI Mini's have an overflow tank under the fender.

Also, used on many South African built Minis. Looking into the engine compartment it would have been just to the left of the windscreen wiper motor. (RHD cars, of course.)

MGBs, 1100s and some other LBCs had them both in brass and plastic. I have one on the fire wall engine bay side of dash in front of driver LHD car. It makes living with a 1360 Cooper S engine possible. Other wise it would push coolant on each cool down cycle, once enough coolant is pushed out overheat follows. Steve (CTR)

Minis didn't have expansion tanks as standard, so you can fit it wherever you want.

It's probably an ADO16 one.

I have this brass radiator expansion tank that came with my mini in a box of parts. it was actually black when i pulled it out of the box, but it was scratched. Of course I had to find out what the very dark gold metal was underneath. I removed the paint and it was brass and very good looking part after I polished it .I would like to install it in since my mini doesn't have an expansion tank on it at the moment . I'm not sure the stock location if anyone knows that would be awesome.
