The paint job was in honor of one of the Lemons crew Jeff Glenn, who used to race a Mini too.

He was very surprised to see us show up with the Mini painted like his old racing Mini.

Judge Phil wanted to put us in Class B because it has won C before (back in 2010 and 2012) and he wanted his friend to win in their cheaty Toyota Corolla. As it was, we were given C-4 (4 penalty laps) and had they (9-finger drifter corolla) not screwed up so royally and us (me) not screwed up so royally, we probably would have still been neck and neck the whole race.

They were faster, but we brought more spare tires and, uh, 22 gallon fuel cell FTW!

Nice work gents!

Now that 66% of LeMons minis have class C victories under their belts, I guess all minis will now be Class B!

And yes, it ran all weekend. And it even lapped me multiple times with that setup. FWIW, it used a BBC needle.
It always amazed me how versatile the SU carb is. Years ago we used to fit SU carbs sideways (90 degrees) to what they would normally run on Fords with Zenith carbs that were junk when new, i always thought the damping would be a problem but an old timer convinced me it wouldn't. I even converted my US spec Stromberg equipped Lotus Elan to twin SU's, as the inlet manifold was cast into the head it was too expensive for me to change to Webbers. It took around 3 weeks to get the right needle and spring set up but ran 100% better with those 1.5 SU's than it ever ran with the Strombergs.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Despite our best efforts to get 2d or even 3rd place, we somehow won Class C this weekend at Inde Motorsports Park and I think were 12th overall.
