Are they by any chance the same as the floor start switch?
Mine is buried or I would check.

The "try as you go" approach did not work, either for me of the local nut/bolt shop.  22 threads per inch is between 5/16 coarse (5/16-18) and 5/16 fine (5/16-24)  That makes them Whitworth Fine Thread.

Thanks,

I have a sneaky suspicion that they are indeed Whitworth.  Depending on the solenoids fitted to some of my older cars I may be able to check that.

reason:  the OP doesn't want to listen, i told him to grab a handful of bolt and try them one by one, instead of getting the numbers then buy one nut from home depot which is 5 miles away, then if it doesn't fit then he'll go back and drive another 10 miles back and forth.
Nothing is exact in this world, don't live by the numbers.

Can anyone shed some light on the thread size for the nuts on the standard 3 pole early solenoid.  Are they whitworth?  They are not 5/16 coarse or fine, not 8mm X 1.00 or 1.25.  I know I can buy another solenoid but this one is fine - just one nut is missing.

Thanks,
