Actually I think I just got hooked up. but sad to see the affordable classic is no longer affordable. Oh well. looking at one that needs a little work, but is solid and a good runner. May still go with "new" Mini, but for now....

Grommet:

Being as you live in British Columbia, purchasing any mini in the U S A is just out of the question due to the currency issue (differential)

Best to keep checking the Vancouver Mini Club site for a bargain

With the influx of JDM (Japanese) minis into Canada, the new orm is $10k for most minis only rot boxes are cheaper

Good to see you back

Wow.. Less than 10 years ago I had trouble getting $4500 for a rust free one with hi-lows LCB exhaust and new tires, brakes and MonteCarlo interior. Thanks mate but no way I can do that.

Might have to forget it until I win the lottery.

I think $14/$16 thousand is the new $5 to $7. I can offer you a very nice 59 with 1275 power, remote, 7.5 disc 5 inch Cosmics very nice car needs nothing $14000. How about a mid 80s Mayfair 998 with complete mechanical rebuild, engine, tranny, lead free, Fully adjustable suspension, new disc SS pistons, kits, drive shafts cleaned, flushed, greased, booted. 12 X 5 alloys waiting for new 165 Yokos. $16000. Drive it home and get great mileage while at it. Steve (CTR)

I don't mean 1974 to 1980 "Canadian" Minis, but Minis in Canada.. can't find any for sale. I'd prefer a late 80's 1990's model. None popping up in my searches, and the ones that do are (I think) over-priced. I bought a nice 1990 Jap Spec for $5k maybe 7 years ago... Should have kept it lol!

Should be lots of CA spec MINIs out your way and Alberta.
I'm not sure of the numbers, but there seems to have been a crap load of MkIV MINIs sent here competing for sales with the Civic etc.

Start cruising the back alleys....lol

Hi Guys. Been a while.

Been picking away at the MK II Cooper, but it will be a while to get it on the road yet.

I have been thinking of buying another Mini, like a Japanese import, to use for work in the meantime. Yes.. i have owned enough Minis to know their short comings, but driving a Jetta Diesel every day while comfortable and fuel efficient just is not me. I went to look for one and there are none around. or they are over $10k. What's happening? There were tons of them on the road here less than 10 years ago, and in the last few years there were ones bouncing around out there close to the $5k mark.

What gives? Just looking for a nice 998 i can play with and use as a commuter, not looking for a concourse cooper S...Even "New" Minis are silly expensive. Did something happen while i was away?
